Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Synopsis is typically one sentence to summarize your film, not necessarily the whole paragraph

What ur refering to is called a logline: a synopsis is 250 words or more(at least from my pov).

and 2 yrs later... >> no i do not. so far what i have observed is that what i do is to write down the sequence as in this happens and then that happens but because of x this happens and therefore this doesnt happen instead that happens... and then i really enjoy writing the screenplay. Then i tend to go back and change the sequence if and when i need to. It is usually at the end that i write synopsis and change the logline which i wrote earlier. So basically i move in and out of all of these adjusting rewriting and eventually getting the bible or pitch deck ready. This changes though if there is a particular request on an assignment like , please just write up a synopsis on this idea. or a tratment for this story. or give us the story ... and stuff like that. in these cases i do not have much choice. But i realized that in all assignments i do need to see the film or serial with my own wide open eyes first and foremost. Once i see it i start putting it down. I dont much care as in what comes first or last. But it just so happens it really comes through when i write the screenplay. Then i go back for other stuff as the studios or producers usually ask for a pitch deck or the bible or some part of it. thank you for reading. haha.

@@MrGYPSYSPADE Thank you for sharing. What do you mean by the bible, or a pitch deck? Is that just a longer synopsis?

I disagree on the "one trick pony". You have to stick to a genre and get known for being good at that. If you jump around it's harder to market yourself. This applies to anything creative. Once you're established, sure, you can try this or that, but I can't think of a notable film maker who has been successful at it. When Hitchcock did that dark comedy it didn't go over very well.

I agree, get good at one genre and stand out that way

I disagree with you, to an extent. While I agree that it's beneficial to get good at something, expanding your horizons and learning how to work and learn within the constraints of something that's new, and breaking those barriers, betters yourself as an artist. Shel Silverstein, RL Stine, Tom Waits, plenty of great successful artists have grown their audience and thrived when they reached farther than what they've been known for.

@@joejett6234 it is about marketing. It applies to every art form . when a painter does a gallery show, the style of each painting is consistent. Otherwise what you do as a writer becomes confusing. You aren't known for anything. You need a brand as a genre writer. When you say you should do something new, it has little meaning. All screenwriting is technically the same, regardless of genre. The only difference is where you place the emphasis.

If I'll different yet logical endings and send this treatment to festivals, will that be considered as: I as a writer have not idea what I want to do, and I don't know how to end a story, so I leave it on somebody else?
