I love these sprints because the breaks are such a good reminder for me to take care of myself and step back from my hyperfixation. It also helps me sit down and put pen to paper instead of things just brewing in my head indefinitely. Thank you! Granted, it would be more helpful if my friends weren't bugging me for attention. But I'm still taking the win. :]

I used to listen to the entire thing with no ads. Today I can't go five minutes without an ad. Im going to have to find something else and that makes me sad. I loved this one.

I second this. These really work and it's my go-to for when I'm writing. But it's hard to stay focused in a sprinting session when there are ads popping up every few minutes all of the sudden.

@@gforce1754 I haven't yet read Gormenghast, but it's on the list. I've heard the prose is just as you say: quite purple. A lot of Gothic isn't too bad, but if it's anything like Maturin's Melmoth the Wanderer, it'd be nigh unreadable. Some Victorian writers seemed like they wanted to be half poet-playwrights, and half novelists. Nevertheless, I distinguish between the prose and the story elements. Melmoth was very difficult to read, but the plot and worldbuilding buried under the prose has easily been the most inspiring to me of any Gothic writing. Perhaps Gormenghast has a similar dynamic.

I've never used one of these sorts of videos when writing before, but I really enjoyed this one and found it super helpful. I've been stuck in my Magical Realism novella recently, hit with some hard writer's block and not sure how to get out of it, but I've been pushing through it as best I can, because I know I need to create a habit of writing frequently and getting past my 'Scrap all of it! It's garbage!' mentality. This video definitely got me in the right headspace for working on my story, so thanks.
@Jackie777

So I'm not really sure if that was intended use, but I listened relentlessly this part, over and over, while translating the most heartbreaking and shattering experiences for the characters, the death of one of the very-very main ones and the recoil and shock and grief of others. And now I'm listening to it while they're going through the pain and loneliness and hollowness and the idea that this person is no longer there and won't ever be again. It hurts so much, but this writing session is helping me tremendously - not only to pace myself, but also as an anchor, so I my own emotions wouldn't get that much in the way. Thank you.

It was a dark and stormy night and the KZbin algorithm hits the jackpot. Outside, the sky is punctuated by flashes of light, and rain splatters on the roof. I'm writing a scene where the characters are hunkering down as limbs crash around them and hail pelts their shelter. the storm is the least of their worries.

The whole day I had felt bad my head was hurting, the bright and sunny castle wasnt making me feel good as it usually would so I went to bed, I sunk into the sheets and rested my head on the silk pillow and I slept, slept perhaps for an eternity. As I woke up the castle wasn’t anything what it once was, now the once bright jolly and sunny castle was now a dark gloomy and sad castle, I moved, about to get out as I looked at my arm and see a whole spiderweb connected to my forearm to my waist, “well that’s strange” I saw a terrifyingly beautiful mirror it had black details and was carved to perfection as I looked into the reflection I couldn’t believe what I saw, my skin, it was pale, pale and white like snow with a dark red hole on the left side of my cheek, I raised my finger and put it in, I opened my mouth and saw how my finger came out if the other side “What!?” What was weirder was that my eyes that were once blue like ice were now dark blue like the dark berries that grew on the forest surrounding the castle, this time I decided to look around me and everything looked somewhat to what it used to be... the whole bed though was covered in a light mesh that fell from the pavilion on top I walked towards the door suddenly feeling as if my legs were frozen it felt difficult to move . It was also painful. I walked towards the door and it was hard, it wouldn’t even turn it was stuck but somehow I turned harder s as bd it broke, luckily making the door open I got a faint smell as I left the room, it smelled sweet almost like metal but it made me hungry, the halls were still beautiful just as I remembered full of portraits of the family, my late aunt Madame Antoinette, wearing a dark red dress, “ hmm I remember that dress being yellow” I thought as I walked I saw a portrait of... me? My hands were together gracefully I had a black and Lacey dress on and a sad expression with hair as black as the night in the forest and straight as the way rain fell “ I do not remember having that portrait made of me, I was too busy to realize hat beside it was another portrait of me with a night gown peacefully sleeping, hands together in a graceful form and eyes closed for all to get seen would be the once fluttering lashes Hmm I walked further only to see more portraits most of them family that had long gone passed to a better life

16:50 to 20:50 made me write this, oh and on speed 0,75 I stared at the elegantly carved door, a perfect combination between wood and metal, clashing in with each other, they look like a brutal hurricane that would mercilessly swipe a land off the map, twirling and spinning in it's own world of chaos, inviting everyone to a dance with death. The door was decorated with lavenders lazily hanging from thick vines that surrounded it on both sides, one of which, was my desire to visit. Suddenly, I heard something, a voice, muffled yet clear, it came form behind the door, an enchanting voice sang a beautiful melody, one I couldn't ignore, it sprouted further to me, tugging on all my senses. Whatever was lurking in there was pulling me in, to look for it, to find it. Purple smoke taking more of the ground I stood on, everything slowly vanishing, leaving my vision, leaving my mind. As I make my way to it, getting closer and closer, breathing in the poisoned air that flew my way, leading me to whatever fate it wished me, to whatever destiny. I stood there, facing the door, not a care of my past world, not a care if I'll find my way home, or if I'll even return from this. I raised my hand, trying to touch it, but I was shaking, I was hesitant, I was scared, my body wouldn't listen to my mind and I was only stuck in between, so I pulled back and backed away, I started to breath heavily, gasping for any clean air that would clear my lungs of this poison that I breathed. I turned around and began to run, I didn't see where I was headed, I didn't care where I was headed, I just wanted to get away from it, to get as far as possible from this trap I was lured in. Suddenly, my breath hitched, terror ran like blood through my veins as I saw it again, but it was different, it was the same door I saw before but just, different, like a side of it I've never seen, even the purple smoke duplicated, taking more room, making the door itself barely visible. At once, my breath stopped in my throat, it's back, the voice, the haunting melody, are back, and it sounded different too, this time, louder and clearer, as if the singer's breath was flowing like a cold breeze, on my neck, as if their hands lightly pated my back, as if they were right behind me. The melody stopped, I closed my eyes, took a breath, and turned. (I might continue this if I got ideas)

Hi, Abbie, I love these writing sessions. And your videos help me so much. This writing session is just what I needed to start writing my first fantasy novel, which is called Tanzafiria. Thank you so much☺️ Also, I read "100 days of sunlight" and I really love it. It's now one of my all time favourite books and I will definitely read it again.
