We have very different writing methods! If I outline, I lose all interest and move on. Lol, short attention span! I love the pantsing method where the story unfolds as you write it. In writing, I really feel there is no right or wrong. It's a creative process and individual to you. Hopping to Chapter 11-ish is fine. IMO, don't get too fussed over the first chapter or so. You will be a much stronger writer by the time you finish an entire novel and will want to tweak your first, most important, chapter at the end. Chapter one is where you hook or lose the reader. I love your videos even though almost I never plan anything! I start my day with a "what I accomplished yesterday" list. So I am always in a yay, I'm a rockstar mood when I start writing. My method is music, a cuppa and...go! When I get stuck, I take a plot walk or work in the garden and talk out loud...a lot. When the draft is done, I do clean-up edits so I am not distracted by typos, etc. THEN, I finally outline the story and character arc roughly based on KM Weiland's story structure. Changes are made. More edits. Even more edits. Then betas readers and even more edits. I play your videos in que every time I need to outline, plan or goal set .Your calm voice, hyper-organization and ultra-neat handwriting channel some kind of Marie Kondo, or rather, Redfern mojo into my chaos. Love the videos. Thank you for sharing. Happy writing, Helen!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Love the 'Redfern mojo'! This is actually not my first draft which I did write via the 'pantsing' method. It's evolved quite a bit in subsequent drafts but this is the first time I'm attempting outlining and character arc because at the moment I feel it's too loose and I want to tighten everything up - and make more sense of what I'm actually trying to say. So actually - I think our writing process is very similar! Thank you again for the support - it's so much appreciated x

I need my own room to write. Either it’s the dogs, the fam or other distractions but I cannot sit down and focus! Love this vlog. ❤️❤️❤️
