My Boox 10.3 never bothers me at all with notifications. I've got them all turned off And never think about them at all. It's completely distraction free for me.
@ArtellicoАй бұрын
Great if this works for you. Research found, that for many there is still an issue. 1) Decision fatigue - you need to actively decide to turn off notification, and 2) Why would I buy a device with features, that I intentionally do need to disable? So at the end it's a very personal thing. I was also thinking that the missing features are a problem for me, but turns out, the colors and size stand out so much, that I have been more productive than ever before on any (!!) other tablet I owned - in just 3 weeks.

@@Artellico Yeah the RMPP is beautiful for sure. But I went into the e-ink tablet game knowing that I needed access to certain apps through Android. So that limited my options, and I also actively try to keep my number of devices to a minimum. So the Boox 10.3 operates as my reading device (using several services), my note-taking device, and my teaching notes device (needing access to Google Docs). There was no fatigue with the notification decision because I knew I didn't want them and all I did was turn on "Do Not Disturb" and don't think about it anymore. But you've got to know your why. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming!

That was an awesome, crisp video! What camera did you use?

Thank you very much, I use a Sony A7CR for my photography and video (head shots) , but over my table there is a permanently installed ELP 4K USB-C camera for product closeups. Works really well.

If you want the feeling of writing with a ballpoint pen in a notebook, Supernote writes much better than Remarkable or Boox.
@ArtellicoАй бұрын
If they come up with bigger size and color, I will jump on. For now, they do not offer anything being more appealing than the reMPP, because these are two crucial factors for me.

The Supernote A5X2 is coming out soon, but it won't have color. For my needs, it will also be fine in black and white.

Ok I do not want to sound always negative about this device because still I like it and I want to keep it. I did more testing and realised that an easy and quick solution is remarkable to come up with many alternative tips. I do not care they can charge even 50£ for let’s say 30 tips with different variety of smoothness and texture. The remarkable 1 marker tip makes less noise in remarkable pro so the noise is reduced. The stadler tip does not make any noise at all. Obviously they both don’t write on remarkable pro as they are Wacom pens and their tips cannot be inserted in the new marker. So we are coming in the awkward situation that the noise can be really eliminated or reduced but if remarkable or third party provider does not do anything about it you will have this noise for nothing while there exists an easy solution out of this. In addition, these original tips in the pro are destroyed so easily because they have a lot of friction. So we need replacements. If remarkable goes out of business tomorrow the pro has an early expiry date. Still the glass provides a lot of compromises but they can have a line with a pro and later with an air. For me 10.3 size is garbage so they can throw remarkable 2 production to the Nordic sea. However, after experiencing gallery 3 any new eink devise that is black and white does not have any reason for existence according to me. The companies should scrap plans and stop production now. I do not understand how supernote will promote A5x2 or A4x2 devices without a colour device. Is like the revolution from black and white TV to the colour TV.

Thanks for this comprehensive feedback! 1. I start with size first, I would even love to see an A4 size version, but the current size is just enough. 10.3 inch is OK for anything EPUB, which reflows, but not for PDF, unfortunately. So fiction only readers might be satisfied, for me 10.3 is too small for many use cases. 2. I did not see a significant abrasion of the tip, slightly yes, but negligible. Not like the reM2 tips. I have tried other USI pens and some of them work quite well, some have issues with the strokes being a bit "wavy" and not absolutely straight. But I am sure we will have soon alternative pen option recommendations and also 3rd party tips. If reMarkable are going to sell any "tip bundle package" ... I would not bet on this. 3. Agree to some extent, all new devices should at least have a color option. For some use cases (text only) B&W still makes sense, but for the large tablets in particular, color is a must for me (PDF textbook use case). It seems, you still like your device, so enjoy and have a lot of fun :-)

Great comparison. You have the old onyx max with plastic screen. I was considering buying this device until I was waiting the new model and boom they changed plastic with glass or something like that. Also they put speakers. But still I prefer the handwriting from remarkable pro. First it does not make any noise. The slippery part can be easily fixed with a proper screen protector. Do not worry that is flexing exactly this is the point. Some argue that is more robust because of that. Is flexing so does not brake. Ok this is now an ugly old device but Fujitsu quaderno is not. Fujitsu quaderno A4 with gallery 3, Wacom ERM system and remarkable software. That is the device. They can name it Remarkable Air. I give all this advice for free and I will pay them on top to buy it. What else they need?

If I'm going to write by hand, then I want to write with a fantastic fountain pen with gold nib. I do not want to write on an e-ink screen. If I work on any type of electronic device, then I need a physical keyboard.

I highly agree, still love my Montblanc Masterpiece ... but digital organization, reordering of elements, archiving ... all not possible. For pure productivity, digital is a different story ... For me, this is worth it.

I am still looking for a derivation I did in 2014 and it is on a pile of paper between 20 big boxes in the basement. Why? Because back then iPad Pro or any meaningful tablet with stylus did not existed.
@JMaxwell1000Ай бұрын
@@stefanogalioni-kp3dg I fully understand. But having to find files that are stacked in mounds of paper notebooks is in my own experience far preferable to losing a week's worth of writing in a digital "glitch" - in which some of your best is lost forever in a microsecond. Ideally, we would always type up our physical notes and commit them to several different thumb drives. Studies have shown that writing by hand on paper changes our thought processes in a positive way, so maybe future studies will confirm the same findings for the entire e-ink experience.
@stefanogalioni-kp3dgАй бұрын
@@JMaxwell1000 this glitch must be really big. I save everything in iCloud. Also I am writing my notes in paper and I am taking pictures with my iPhone. There is no way to leave these proofs and derivations unarchived. They will lost for ever. I can add these photos with good notes to papers and books. The possibilities are endless.
