Yay, I'm so glad you're doing writing vlogs now! I love learning from other writer's advice and experiences, and sometimes, if I'm having trouble getting focused or motivated enough to write, watching a vlog where someone (like you!) talks enthusiastically about their writing helps me remember my own enthusiasm, and then I'm ready to go write again. Thank you for doing this!

Puppy therapy is the best therapy. Dialogue as a skeleton is a great analogy! It works not only because you build things around it, but because it's strength (or lack thereof) can easily make or break a scene.

Awesome video! I really like writing vlogs over all, and love hearing about how other people's novels are coming along, and what their process looks like. I'm itching to make my own, but am currently mid-editing and have been hesitant, wondering if I should just hold off until I'm starting a new novel, or have finished the second draft of this one, or something, but you made me think that I should maybe just go for it right now. Thank you for that! :)

I've nearly finished writing my current book, at the minute it's on 70,000 words and I want it to surpass 80,000 which I think it will as I've still got some more ideas for plotlines and things but I have no clue what to do with it once it's done, I want to get it published but I have no clue how or whether it's good enough

Sasha, do you and Lindsay speculate on future book ventures together? Do you ever feel unmoved by the muses but push forward anyway even when your not inspired by a free flow of ideas? I liked the map in the e-book and the symbol appearing in the header of each chapters. My hope is more symbols, diagrams and symbols will appear in ZENITH, as well as future works...

1:59 Shouldn't it read with the "she" in lowercase as one sentence? i.e.: "What do you mean?" she says, furrowing her brow. Sorry, my editor is hounding me on grammar so I'm seeing it everywhere!! :(
@fernycarrasco11578 жыл бұрын
oh I didn't know that, I'm writting, not for real, just for myself, but it's good to know these type of thing so thanks, I guess you always learn something new
@atropiaveteran8 жыл бұрын
Ferny Carrasco just asked my editor so I'll post back when I get an answer! :)
@joebulled77808 жыл бұрын
No "What do you mean?" A question mark is a period and therefore you the "She says" would be a new sentence so a new capital letter.
@karkatvantas95578 жыл бұрын
When it comes to dialogue, you're meant to use any final punctuation as a comma, because the following sentence would not make sense. "She says, furrowing her brow," for example, is not a complete sentence. Therefore rather than treat the question mark as a full stop as it would usually be, you treat it as a comma. Tl;dr: Handley was correct.
@atropiaveteran8 жыл бұрын

As a mom, a wife and someone who has a blog but also works outside the home, I would love to actually see a video of your writing or work from home routine from day to night. I know you talked about it but I think it would be cool and beneficial for anyone who wants to work from home someday or even for your younger viewers who have the dream of working from home or writing as their career when they graduate high school. Hey Sasha great video! I loved what you talked about and I look forward to your other videos about writing and your journey to becoming published. I am a aspiring author (as you can tell by my username haha) in hopes to get published one day just like you! I have a partial request from an editor at a publisher and I am in the process of cutting down my manuscript because it is too long haha and then I have to look for an agent which I hope to do soon and start on my publishing journey as well. I don't have a routine like you, I usually film you tube videos on Tuesday and do writing in between usually at school and on the weekends and I edit everyday at night (except on the weekends confusing I know it's like I said before I don't have a routine to keep up with so I just go with the flow) I usually edit 20- 30 pages a day and it is going great so far. Anyway now that you heard my life story about writing I just wanted to say good luck with Zenith and I can't wait to read it in August when it comes out and I will be purchasing it the day it's released! Keep up the good work and you are awesome!

Such an interesting video, Sasha! I've got a question, too, because that's something I struggle with a lot - in the beginnning (or even stil now) did you have a problem with actually sitting down to write and having this as a job? Like, for me it's a bit of a creative flow thing and I always feel like I can't simply turn my creativity on whenever I want to write, which means I get less done than I'd wish to....
