Cleft Sentences and Inversions: How to Add Emphasis in English

Cleft sentences are used to emphasize different parts of a sentence depending on which part is most important. We use cleft sentences (especially in writing) because we are not able to show emphasis with our voice, and we can use inversions to add variety to our sentence structures.
