I was able to vacation in NY once & I got to see the full OBC in this. I will always treasure that experience. Heather & Adam had amazing, beautiful chemistry & the entire cast were all just perfect.

I was hoping that this would have made it to the big screen by now. And I wanted Heather and Adam to reprise their original roles. Unfortunately by the time this gets around to being put on the big screen, they will be to old to play the roles. Then again, so was the cast of rent (from stage to film)and I enjoyed that anyway. Well, the originals who made it to the film. :)

I'm sure that Disney was supposed to make Aida into an animated movie back in the 90's. But decided to do a Broadway of Aida instead. Disney announced that they will make a live action film of Aida and release it in 2010, but canceled it. The production was back on to make Aida into the big screen, but decided to make Into the Woods. Hoping that Disney will be back on to make Aida into a movie. No matter if it's going to be animated or live action.

Well, Disney's main audience is kids, and Aida is not really a kids' musical. Granted, Into the Woods is also kind of intense for kids (at least the 2nd act is), but it's fairy tales, so it would be easier to get kids to watch it.

Well, since the show was written (really rewritten) by Elton John and Tim Rice, all male parts were perfectly in Elton John's range. Pascal was trying to add more of the rock star attitude to his voice. In general, I agree with you, it didn't really work so well.

AIDA takes place in Ancient Egypt/Nubia. Aida is a Nubian girl who was captured by the Egyptians, forced into slavery as a handmaiden, and given as a gift to the Egyptian princess, Amneris. She eventually falls in love with her captor, Radames-- who is also the fiance of Amneris. It is later revealed that Aida is the long lost Nubian princess, and must choose whether or not to assume her position to start a revolution to free her people from Egyptian rule. She eventually accepts her position. Eventually though, her affair with the Egyptian Radames interferes with her duties as the new Nubian ruler, and she must choose between love and her people. I'll leave the ending a mystery...but I will say there's a reason why Disney is hesitant out of making a family movie out of it. It ends on a pretty dark and somber note for Disney standards...
