My mom could not find her carnival glass vase for years. One time the toilet malfunctioned and I opened the tank to find my dad had used the vase to make the tank save water. I took it out and washed it. Good as new. Nothing happened to it. It was in there for years.

Sydenstricker Glass, It is pronounced sigh-den-str-ick-er. Sydenstricker is also Pearl S. Buck’s middle name (author of The Good Earth). In the mid 1960’s on Cape Cod, Bill Sydenstricker developed a new craft inspired by the extensive research he had conducted while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on early Egyptian art. His efforts resulted in new and exciting glass designs produced by a method similar to the ancient art of enameling. Today Bill Sydenstricker’s apprentices continue to create new and innovative glass designs with the standards he instilled

Honestly, I'm getting tired of Goodwill's pricing. They get this stuff for free and the pricing is outrageous on most things. My Goodwill, for example, goes online and finds out what everything sells for on eBay, then prices it just under the ASKING prices. I know this because they often print out the listing they based the pricing on. It's ridiculous and I do not donate to Goodwill any more.

I don't give to GW. Look up and see what their CEO makes. Also, see exactly what they do for people. I hate the way they are price gouging. If they think it has any value, forget it! BUT, they don't know everything, right? Lol

@@southernbelle193 The GW stores in our area cull all of the best and high end items for shop goodwill online. Then anything remotely "name brand" gets priced up often near retail prices and put in their boutiques...even their standard pricing is high. All jewelry that's not obviously cheap costume goes in locked bags to the sgw distribution centers and scanned with $35,000 XRF machines to pull out all precious metals. It is a massive, sophisticated, and costly operation. I don't deny them trying to get good money for things however it's a shame they can't hold some of the items back to sell in the communities that donate to and support them like many of the other GWs across the country do.

I also wonder how thrift stores come up with their prices. Today I went to St Vincent de Paul's just to look for something pink for decor/reselling. The manager saw I picked up 2 vintage items and quickly took me back to her office to show me things they were going to list on Ebay. Funny how she was finding similar but not the same items and pricing according to asking prices. She had no idea how to look up sold comps, so I showed her how, and also showed her Worthpoint. She was wondering why her merch wasn't selling. Items are only worth what buyers are willing to pay. Thanks for another great shopping adventure! Wheres those Tom Ford's????? .

I'm in California & our Goodwill prices are off the charts. I say this because if someone truly is in need the prices are unaffordable! Many times ours will price things 1$-2$ under the price for a brand new item. So many times it's like why bother. The managers that work there pull all the nice items and price high & those go in the case up front. Finding something amazing for a great price just doesn't happen so I really enjoy watching Jocelyn & Dagney finding awesome finds like the Murano vase that was in a hat or whatever it was in.
