@Alex Tafoya there is something called redemption and second chances edit: to be clear I'm talking about colleges, one poor decision should not prevent him from playing soccer in college. (Obviously he deserved a yellow for SPA and a red for violent conduct)

The wrong player DID NOT receive a red card. A red card was MISSED. The captain for white did deserve a second yellow and a red for leaving the bench and coming onto the field during the mass confrontation (11:30)

BTW, thank you for the awesome videos Rosales Films, I especially love the slow motion (more impactful plays). I have a suggestion and maybe give timestamps of any slowmos, that would be amazing . The missed straight Red card to Green #15 for Violent Conduct against White #2 at 11:25 was inexcusable IMO. It is not so much that the center ref was WAY WAY too passive and should have been slowing the game down and talking to players until they got the message to just play soccer and stop most of the fouls. The problem is that as a center ref he was way too eager to restart play quickly and that is the ONE call you absolutely need to call correctly. VIOLENT CONDUCT! You have to keep as many players in front of you as is reasonable, missing that punch, that Violent Conduct, could have easily spiraled the game into a bench clearing brawl. The Assistant Referees also missed the call probably because they were ball watching and/or just focused on the center ref and not keeping a wider view. The ARs are really there for backup on that type of scenario and in the case all the referees missed it, the referees could take a few minutes to get the call correct by talking with the players/coaches on both sides, you can easily figure it out. The good news is CIF will just watch the video and do their own adjudication. If the players are really misbehaving which was obvious throughout much of the highlights we saw, their reward is the game is stopped/slowed and they do not get to play as much and you make sure to accurately penalize players until they stop acting out.

Pretty much spot on. Referee crews need to work multiple games together and switch up positions to feel each other out and gain trust. A good pregame talk is a must if you don't know each other...." for a mass confrontation, if I look here, you look there" etc.

@@grumpyref would love to try this !! wish our ref assigning program could somehow keep 3 referees together for multiple games throughout regular season. However, FYI, Our Referee Association does do this through the ENTIRE playoffs !

Refs had a difficult game to manage, and things could have escalated ! However, they kept the game under control. Green Hilltop #15 played very dangerously !! # 2 for Patrick Henry sparked this critical incident. WELL DONE AGAIN BY MS ROSALES !!

One of the assistant referees did see #10 white come onto the field from the bench and he got a second yellow. I'm not sure what caused the referee to turn his head, but something caught his attention in the other direction and he decided to give a yellow card for whatever happened off screen before dealing with the misconduct (#15 green) for the foul he just called. The punch should have not been missed though. Far side AR and the ref should have been looking in that area.

To be fair to the referee, he had his head turned when 15 swung. However, one of his AR’s should’ve seen that. AR2 especially is to watch the field for that sort of thing during any confrontation. AR1 did his job by alerting the referee that the white team player came off the bench onto the field, which was a correct second yellow card. AR2 did not help the referee by not seeing 15 throwing a punch. Therefore, 15 only got a yellow card for the initial foul.

Would love to know if California HS Association got the video of the game and suspended the player for the max (3 games)? Fighting should be heavily reprimanded. I didn't see if he ever came back on the field, so that was good on the coach for self-imposing an ejection even if he didn't actually go down a man like his team deserved to be in.
