Most memorable scene of the movie. Body split in part 2 was also sick!

Decapitation while riding snowski was more fun. And the scene where they kill the doctors in the hospice is the best scene from all Wrong Turn movies by far. All the ropes stretching and the freaks dancing while torturing at the sound of classical music. BEAUTIFUL!

I’ve done SFX makeup on stage for a production of “Extremities” in college. I did my medical research in terms of figuring out how to do a convincing hot water scald on skin. I used Vaseline and powdered rouge for that effect. However, I could not find any reference pictures for having bug spray sprayed into the eyes (we used Evian spray water for the spraying effect). I came up with a mix of Japanese Washing Grains, glycerol, and red food coloring. It was a quick and thick mix I could put together in a few minutes. To get the “blood” flowing, I used two blindfolds. One normal, the other one with two dime bags filled with glycerine blood placed just below his eyes, so when he pressed his eyes as the second blindfold was taken off, the “blood@ would run down his face. Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best, especially in SFX done on live stage. Budget for the SFX during the run of that production: about $30 at the time.

Hot water scald on skin: drop water on a frying pan; Bug spray sound: press bug spray; Blood flowing: Literally get blood flowing. What the hell are you talking about simplest solutions for? All of those are action sounds and not receiving sounds. They are always the same! Most I can give you is that a skin after scalding will make popping noises. The eye thing have no receiving sound at all. A loud blinking noise, maybe. That's fun trashy stuff. Your "curriculum" is mega overrated. You definitely have a linkedin account.

@@K40L4 ummm, these were practical makeup SFX, not foley work.

@@K40L4 these were _makeup SFX, not audio SFX. Understand the difference. Because I have run sound for a theater production. Obviously, it is you who has the LinkedIn account.

The best things always comes when people are forced to get creative in this case budget. Silent hill1 the music from Akira Yamaoka memory limitation. other examples are: Weather, Permits etc. Point is CGI and digitization makes us lazy. That's why newer films sometimes feel soulless compared to some oldies.

Didn't know that about the Silent Hill music. The soundtracks for that and the second game are amazing

Not necessarily true. Practicals can definitely be better but if you actually give them time cgi can be just as good. Your just used to shit cgi because it's rushed and their working on multiple shows at a time.

So to be clear, after being hired by the prodco, Stand Winston thought there was money in the budget for a full animatronic for THIS movie?

The producers always over promise and then cheapen out and claim poverty after the fact. No wonder so many effects houses have gone under.

Shane: "So we had this scene where a girl was split in half by her mouth. The idea was to make this animatronics replica of the actress that would then split in two on the head, but the director saw it was too expensive, so we just killed the real actress and that's it, problem solved".

Why would you need all that shit for a scene that is in the dark and in the forest and full of action cuts? So much milking money when you can just greenscreen the actress's head and make a fake head. The rest is editing and editing is free. Wrong Turn series is my favorite and the main reason apart from the creative killings is how trashy the killings scenes are, so all that money was just pointless and probably why we don't have more Wrong Turn movies. You can make a wrong turn movie with 5k if you don't count the pay check of the actors, crew workers and make-up artists.

Did it occur to you that the darkness of the scene is done in order to hide how much they had to do this in the cheap….. the animatronic was prob gonna be shot and lit differently
