So, to recap: the several million kilo, three-section, mountain-crawling, planet-jumping, aircraft carrier / UAV-missile build platform / crane / drill rig / art gallery / modern art piece / Johnny 5 impersonator - known as the Jallopy - crossed a chasm almost large enough to recreate the Death Star trench run using a two part, multi-piston-cable system (that was also aggressively multi-colored) to suspend itself like a cable tram, while an enemy plane flew under it to show off..... I mean, I guess it's safe to say this has never been done before, at least.

Ended up with a basic cargo ship to fly out, scrap the rescue truck, then onto the shipwreck, scrap most of the parts before this little ship pick up the remains of the wreck and take it bk to base to be rebuild into a new ship. I didn’t want to waste the batteries on it. The last flight bk was hairy, with sudden nose up and spins, but I did it.

Okay. Splitsie Hi, hate to bother, but since you have experience with it ... You remember that time your landing pad trailer just decided to lift off and tip over. Or that spectacular Detonation of the truck. Clang sparks that went to orbit? AND the early issues with SIM speed dropping until everything was in slow motion? I think they May be ALL related? Let me explain and see what you think. Not sure what needs to be done to fix it. I did something - just the one adjustment - and everything went off the rails. Just for giggles I built a Truck (without trailers) based on the one you use in this series. IE., Many wheels in 2 paired rows with block towers connecting them and a flat platform above. I built it on a block platform then drove it onto normal ground when it was sufficiently mobile. This is where the story starts. Okay I place a crap ton of Ice in the cargo/o2 system to fill up the hydrogen tanks and top of the batteries (this weight is on the center-line). I set the brakes and noticed that the speedometer kept showing movement off and on (abt .1-.9 mps), I could actually hear the road noise sound effect when this happened. , I set all wheels to 'No Steering' then I dismounted and was going to adjust the wheels so only the front ones steered. The first thing I noticed was that my suspension was bottomed out due to the weight of the truck (strength at 8% at default, I had not adjusted this yet), So I increased it until the wheels raised the truck off the ground (abt 34%). Immediately I was getting weirdness. The truck was trying to jitter backwards. One of my wheels was visibly jittering . Everything suddenly slowed down like I was moving through syrup. The truck started rising up and flipping over onto its left side, It continued actually into the air and came to rest on its top - some 200 meters away - where the weirdness seemed to stop. my speed came back to near normal slowly. This was in reg mode with creative tools turned on. Now I have a good fast computer but I still hit 100% on the CPU cores all the time, yet never noticed any slowing issues, except sometimes when A Fleeting rival gets close and my guns rip it to shreds while 100's of blown off blocks raining down from it. The slowing part 'May' have been my CPU. But the Truck getting a mind of its own and flipping was NOT normal and was directly connected to the increase in wheel stiffness under a lot of weight. 1) Is this (adding strength under load) the cause? 2) Is there any way to avoid this in the future? 3) Could this be what happened to you guys? Oh and there was NO clanging noise that I remember, definitely no Sparks, no explosion, no noise or other visual outrageousness that I noticed. Well other than my hopeless cry of despair as I watched 2 days of work do a passable imitation of Richard Hammond's Rimac. It was also - at the rover's highest point in it's arc - that I was reminded to put gyroscopes on the vehicle. I am hoping you and wasted have discussed such issues and he may be a better person to ask, but I dont know how to contact him. Help.

Oh and the whole thing is Large Block, 5x5 wheels. Not connected to anything at the time. With A large block custom turret on top (Rotor/hinge) as well as a Rotor supported - Piston driven small block personal ground elevator through the floor (raised into the truck at the time).

I am building you a proper Survival ready Runway/Hangar Trailer for your large grid rovers. Yours is driving my OCD and engineering brain bonkers, and you all seem to be having no end of issues with it's functionality. Plus the overhead storage for the runway itself is gonna flip your rover at some point I can just see it. lol
@ytdojo483
@ytdojo483 2 жыл бұрын
having all the small storage containers would annoy me, i would rather just build 3 or 4 massive cargo containers and use the storage script to make it organized. also i would probably do something different with the trailers like, the front car would be mostly personnel areas, driving area, and i would make sure its pressurized. second car would be Storage and i mean like MASSIVE storage, probably 6 cargo containers or maybe 8 and the top would be a landing pad that folds in on itself to make it lower profile. and the last one i would make with a large storage bay for 4 land vehicles with a small cargo bay above it for planes. i would probably also make sure that each vehicle can connect to the base with standard connectors. mostly so that they can not only charge off the main grids and deposit anything that isnt ammo back into the system. and finally i would probably use smaller wheels and put them closer together but widen the vehicle in total, that way you have more wheels, your closer to the ground and your center of gravity will be lower.
@Splitsie
@Splitsie 2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much all of the things you've mentioned were tested by w4sted and don't work. 3x3 wheels are as small as you can go (that's what we're using). Large cargo containers pop and get destroyed too easily and despite what you said they do end up horribly messing with centre of mass. Large heavy cargo on a trailer is also bad because the tractor functions best when it's the heaviest part due to the hitch arrangement (which needs to be the way it is to clear terrain obstacles).
@ytdojo483

@@Splitsie didn't expect a response lol, but this does make sense, i usually dont do 3 rovers, i usually build 1 massive rover with 3 5x5 wheels on each side with two refineries, 2 assemblers, 10 efficiency upgrades, 4 yield upgrades, at least 1 large cargo container, and like 10 batteries i also made the base a 5 block wide 2 block tall brick so if i needed to i had space to add things inside the body like ore detectors and beacons n things. its been a pretty nice design, just cant really climb things very easily, need a few more wheels but not sure how to do that with my current design but adding some thrusters on the back helped push me up hills a little better.
