I just want to add a history side to this original song called "Mẹ yêu con" (I love you - word from a mother to her child). This song was written by the great song writer Nguyễn Văn Tý who passed away 5 years ago. The melody itself is already insanely beautiful, but the lyrics is what bring people to tears. It was written in the time of war, when every family had their adult children fighting to take back our country, hence almost every family had at least 1 (or even more) people died or injured in the war. The lyrics is what the mother tell her child, that "the revolution is bringing back our country, I look at you and I see the images of many people (who have sacrificed for our country's future - your future, as in they have been fighting to protect your future and that's why) your future is beautiful". In the mist of uncertainty from the war, this song brought such incredible hope in the bright future that we would win, we would have piece, and we did! I mean, knowing the historical context could bring you so much more depth to this song. For me personally, I'm Millennial so I don't have memory of the war, but my mom sang this lullaby for us growing up, so it's very touching listening to this performance! The original song is mixed so well here, and the stage is just... art! Period!

This is a song about mothers. If you understand the lyrics and know that today is Vietnamese Women's Day, the song will be much better. We cried as soon as we heard the first verse. Thanks for your reaction!

Mẹ, con và bao lớp người- những người con - con của mẹ, đất nước. 9 tháng so 9 năm gian khó vô cùng. Cố nhạc sỹ dùng hình ảnh nhân hóa đất nước ta với em bé. Mẹ ở đây là người mẹ, những người mẹ. Con là con, là đất nước non trẻ. Khi nghe bài này mình nghĩ đến mẹ, những người mẹ, những mẹ Việt Nam anh hùng. Nhớ đến mẹ Thứ. Thực sự bài hát có nhiều lớp nghĩa tươi đẹp, nếu chỉ hiểu 1 phần thì sẽ khó thấy hết sự tươi đẹp đó. 😊

This song is about mothers, more specifically a mother’s words about the love for her kid, since the child is a fetus, born, grows up and finally becomes an adult. The melody at the beginning of the song is a very popular lullaby in Vietnam, any child, like, literally every child, knows it. The stage names of all the singers in this song are replaced with their full real names, to show gratitude for the names their parents gave them. Such as Nguyễn Huỳnh Sơn instead of Soobin, Phạm Duy Thuận instead of Jun Phạm, etc.,...

The lyrics of this song are based on a mother’s lullaby to her little child. The song was sung on Vietnamese Women’s Day which made it even more touching. They express the sacred feelings of a mother from pregnancy until her child learns to walk and also her wishes when the child grows up. All the listeners cried from the first verse.
