The last season where The Redskins as an organization were still respectable, this was either Dan Snyders first or second year as the owner. So this game marked the beginning of the end of the Washington Redskins as a respectable franchise.

This was the Washington Redskins' last gasp. Brad Johnson hung that pass a little high and got picked off by John Lynch. Snyder decided he needed a stronger arm qb and sign Jeff George. Brad Johnson immediately got a ring and Washington is a ghost of a port o jon fire.

This game had a tragic undertone - the long snapper who blew the last FG attempt for the Redskins, Dan Turk, was terminally ill with cancer at the time but didn't know it - was having serious problems with vision, coordination and weakness and he passed away a few months later. Should never have been on the field in any football game given the condition he was in.

Special team them late 90s Bucs. Dick Stockton is classic. Matt Mullen was def a better analyst than GM... Too bad Dungy had a sucky offense. He should have utilized Allstott like the Redskins used John Riggins....they never would a fired him.
@ThatGuyJake693 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Dungy never had the offense to match the vaunting defense he had in e 90s, especially in the WR department. Their catch percentages were ridiculously bad Reidel Anthony: 53.6% Bert Emanuel: 42.3% Jacquez Green: 60.2% I mean come on! Green had the best catch % and he was catching it barely over half the time. Dungy was such a great coach who never got enough credit when he coached Tampa Bay

Two of the QBs later led their teams to the Lombardi trophy. Dilfer won with the Ravens the next season (then got cut) and Johnson won in '02 - with the Bucs. King ... he did last a decade in the league.

As a lifelong Skins fan, this game was the most painful I've ever experienced. I was a teenager at the time and it's the only game I ever cried after. It was a great game though. A real slugfest. We had it put away in the 3rd and a comedy of errors lost us the game. Little did we know, that would become a staple of the Dan Snyder era.
