I LOVE that Cesar never laughed or acted like he was being irrational or made fun of his fear. Making fun of people's fear doesn't help them.
@stephaniezimbalist37575 жыл бұрын
The fear isn't irrational. Especially since, historically; black people's fear of dogs has been passed down from generation to generation. Slave owners used dogs to catch escaping slaves. Law Enforcement used dogs to attack peaceful Black protestors during the 60s. I was bitten 6 times before I was 10years because of irresponsible dog owners and some neglectful parents. I don't hate dogs but I don't trust those mofos until they prove to me that they're cool. If they have chill energy then I will pet them and play catch but at first meeting I don't even interact with them.
@nopeq79934 жыл бұрын
Irrational? It's not irrational at all. If this man's experiences with dogs are little and have only been negative, how is it wrong for him to be afraid? A lot of us are used to dogs and interact with them, but this man obviously isn't. If you saw a snake handler with something like a python and he told you to come up and hold it, you telling me you wouldn't be even slightly afraid? That being said, at least your comment isn't making fun of the interviewer like other jackasses...
@TheKillaShow4 жыл бұрын
Irrational isnt the word. To you or me, we know Junior wont hurt him. But in his mind, dogs are untrustworthy. It will take time and alot of experience with dogs to form new memories and positive reinforcment. It may never completly overtake his fear of dogs, but it also might if he kept practice. However, Im not so sure this gentlemen's goal is to get over his fear beyond this video segment.

Irrational? Dogs can bite. It's completely rational for someone to be afraid of them.

I'm not insulting the guy or saying he's irrational. That wasn't my intention and I apologize to anyone who took it that way and was offended. I meant it more like...Cesar isn't afraid of dogs. So to him the fear could be seen as irrational to him. But he didn't make fun of the man or laugh at any point. He took him seriously the whole time. Everyone's fear is valid. I've just seen a lot of people laugh at others who are afraid of things like dogs or bugs but Cesar didn't do that. That's the point I'm trying to make.

@@RubyWorthington Hello, I adopted my dog, Pantxo, around nine years ago. I found out quite fast that some of my friends had fear of dogs, specially big ones like my baby (54kg-110 pounds Pitbull, Bulldog, Boxer mix) so I had to find ways to introduce them with both of them being safe and comfortable. What I learned is that you need to find a good introduction moment for both of you. You can't bring a nervous and high energy dog to meet an even more nervous person, but you can't also bring a nervous and scared person to a dog without the dog already being in a state of mind that is submissive or relaxed. So try to find a dog trainer or vet or someone you know that has a really well behaved dog, someone who understands how it works and preferably knows you, and talk about it with them. Let them help you. In my experience, dogs tend to behave better in those type of introductions than humans do, so try to keep yourself as much calm and relaxed as you can, if you need help with it, talk with the owner, they will help you. Dogs tend to pay more attention to the owner than the new person anyway, specially if they see you like the leader of the pack. Find your best state of mind possible and if you don't think you're ready, don't rush it. What helped us the most was go out for walks together. You don't need to talk, touch or interact that much with the dog until both of you get used to each other presence, and then, if the owner finds you both to be in a good state of mind, you can introduce yourself. If not, don't worry, you can repeat it and the next time it will be easier for both of you. Maybe you find it difficult to walk with a dog that you don't know or you're scared of, in that case maybe it's better if the dog is already in a low energy level or relaxed. Maybe find a breed of dog that don't scare you as much or that you feel more comfortable around. I highly recommend you to give it a try. It's unfortunately quite a common fear and you can both learn and enjoy so much from each other. But don't rush it, don't push yourself too hard or the dog will not vibe with your energy. I hope this helped, feel free to reply if you need more help or if you just want to talk about it. I'm sure we can find a way to help you overcome your fear or atleast make it easier =)

Yup. Honestly I think Cesar is a great person and would still do this for free. But he needs to live and eat like the rest of us. The fact he can get paid by the networks and news sites for doing what he loves means he can devote more time to it and help more people.
@holohulolo8 жыл бұрын
WonderfulAkari I'm all for people earning more and more money, even when they have enough, they have the right to do so. "...he needs to live and eat like the rest of us." I'm pretty sure he has more than enough to just live and eat. I believe he would do it for less, or even free, because he already has more than enough to live by. I'm guessing if he were eking out a living, he would've charged too. That's when the,"...he needs to live and eat like the rest of us." applies. Let's not romanticise successful people as being selfless, generous and generally better than other people. Billionaires can donate $100k, but let's not forget the people who donated $5 when they only have $20.
@WonderfulAkari8 жыл бұрын
Okay so where would his income come from if he did this for free? If he did this as charity he would do less of it in order to take on a job so he could have an income. Meaning instead of helping a lot of people he is only helping some. If he can get paid for doing this he can devote more time to it. I'm not praising him for being finacialy successful I'm praising him for doing good. Are you saying doctors and therapists who are paid to vastly change other people's lives shouldn't be praised for pursueing a profession that aids people just because they can also make money? Being finacoally successful and making more money than you isn't a sin, also do you keep tabs on what he does with his money? For all you know he does donate it. I'd rather be quick to praise then quick to cast doubt.
@holohulolo8 жыл бұрын
WonderfulAkari We are talking about this one particular interview. Of course he has other income, he made a show, he own his own shop. Did you think doing interviews is the only way he get money? His show was very successful, he must've gotten a lot of money from that too. The way you say it sounds like this interview is so significant for him to eat and live. It's not. I'm pretty sure with the success he had in his past show he has accumulated enough wealth, and he invested it in owning his own pet shop. Don't twist my words, I didn't say don't praise him for doing good. Besides, did you not read my comment, the first thing I mentioned is, "I'm all for people earning more and more money, even when they have enough, they have the right to do so. " I never said it's not good or it's a sin or evil to earn more money when you already have enough. I said the exact opposite. The reason why I was saying what I was saying, is because people tend to idolise or romanticise celebrities or well known successful people when they do some charity or good deed, that it tends to make people think a little less about themselves because they are not like that. Bill Gates donating hundreds of millions of dollars is great, it's very generous of him, but if you think of the percentage of his total net worth that's almost like someone who has a net worth of $10k donating $10. Sure the $100m dollar, is worth more and can do more good, but the person donating $10 is just as generous considering the relative ration to his total net worth. Not to mention that 10$ is worth more to the person, because Bill Gates is so rich, that even if he gives up 90% of his wealth he's doing a lot better than just to live and eat, but not the other guy who has only 10k You may not be giving people free advice on on overcoming fear of dog on TV or something to that scale, but maybe you thought a child from a non English speaking country the alphabets, you're just as kind and generous. I'm not doubting his sincerity, I'm saying it's easier to give when you have more.

So, if I'm correct, the problem isn't usually dogs when someone is afraid of dogs. It's not the dogs fault either though. It's the dog's owner who is not correcting excited, nervous, and anxious behavior when faced with meeting people, and so teaching the dogs that it's alright to act the way they are.

It's always the owners fault. They're not like children that will have their own mind as they grow up. Dogs will always look up to its owners. If dogs aren't properly trained then owners won't be able to know how to react properly during certain situations which can be dangerous. In the end, the dog takes the blame.

I can testify to the truthfulness of this process. After being afraid of dogs for decades, my sister got a Rottweiler and trained her to be very stable. It's understandable to avoid dogs that are not being controlled. When I walk my dog and I see a strange dog in a yard or on a leash, if I think that dog is not in a safe or controlled mindset, I just avoid it. I'm not going to expose my dog, who is behaving, to a dog that might be aggressive and not properly handled by the owner. I think it's also important to ask people about their dogs before you approach. When someone says their dog is fearful of strangers or standoffish, always respect that.

I commend Lee Hawkins for his openness about his fear of dogs. I grew up terrified of dogs, also because of my father, a mailman that was himself scared of dogs. I remember him yelling and screaming at me for being scared of dogs. I have been treated horribly over the years by people who refuse to understand the absolute terror I would feel. Caesar Milan is a breath of fresh air and has helped my understanding of dogs tremendously. A small runt of the litter that nobody wanted also helped me tremendously. His name was Cricket, a Bichon & Poodle mix, and he changed my life. I grieve the years I was terrified of all the lovely creatures that I am now so fond of. Dogs are really amazing. When I was a very little girl I was viciously torn up by a doberman pinscher. It's an experience that will never forget and it was the grace of God that my uncle noticed and got the dog off me. I don't have a fear of dogs though and I never really did. I hear people with stories like mine and I completely understand their fears. I am sure that the only reason I do not fear dogs after that traumatic experience is that my family still had all sorts of dogs in my life growing up. Even today I have a great love of my furbabies 💕 exposure will help this man out. He should get a dog to love and his fear of dogs will diminish naturally.

We had a DP and we had to re home her back to the breeder as she bit me when I was a child. They can be feisty little things and not always good with kids. I was a really gentle kid and never pulled her about. She even bit my mum.

@@tallisinwonderland4724 I am so sorry this happened to you. Yes I too have always been gentle with animals and I did nothing to provoke the dog that attacked me. This is just my thoughts but I do believe there is truth to this observation of mine, I do believe that some dogs are just born with something seriously wrong with them. Something genetic that doesn't go right. There are humans born like this too i.e. Jeffrey Dommer. I am okay with humanly putting down any dog that can not properly conduct themselves as I feel they are a strain and of no use. I wish we would start doing the same with these useless humans as well. Unfortunately we are stuck with the human kind though.

That is a beautiful dog. The interviewer needs lots of sessions like this. Try helping out at a shelter/dog walking after time. It is a fear he will have to face more often and get as much education as possible. You can see the genuine fear he has but Ceasar as always is amazing.

I don't trust dogs myself. I would never just walk up to a dog and pet them. Im very far from that stage. This video has helped me a lot. I think i can get over my lack of trust of dogs now. I still want ceasar to help me. At least i see he wont laugh at me. 💜❤

Remember people it's the dog and it's state of mind not the breed. You can educate yourself to recognize which state of mind a dog is in. Trust me you know when a dog is aggressive and when he's just playing around. Good luck to everyone with a fear of dogs!

I feel like crying because I feel the same as the interviewer. I always feel like I'm the only one who is not comfortable with dogs. I cross the road when I see a dog approaching and very rarely go to parks. I hope this video helps me to get over this crippling fear. I often feel embarrassed and guilty for not being comfortable being around dogs

Beautiful. The absolute honesty of the interviewer, was striking to me. I really appreciate his willingness to speak the truth about his serious and deep fear of dogs. Bravo sir! Bravo! Certainly you reached some human who sincerely experiences the same fear of dogs, and desire to overcome that fear. Very well done.

You shouldn't feel embarrassed about the fear of dogs. Everyone struggles with some type of fear. I think it's very immature for people to tease you because of your issues with being comfortable with dogs. People need to be considerate with each other. You are obviously a very intelligent, well mannered and educated man. It may also be jealousy that a person would try to bring you down because of a fear. It's their problem not yours. I'm proud of you for publicly tackling this issue. That took a lot of courage! Knowledge is power, thank you for this episode!

A lot of respect for the host, Mr Hawkins showed amazing bravery confronting his fear. It was easy to see how un-easy he was and im sure he still have some room to grow but its rare to see people deal with there fear so head on. Further more a lot of respect for Cesar not only in his career but the ability to help someone confront the fear instead of mocking. Very happy I came across this video.
