Ok, from this description, anytime pressure drops like that, depending on where you're doing the PT it points to the pump or related components. As you said, pump seals come to mind or pump itself. Hope that helped.

Hello and thanks for posting. Nice explanation of possible fix.

OK, as usual I need year, make, model and engine size. Assuming your vehicle is older, there's only one VSS. 2008 and up, on SOME systems the WSS from the ABS is used to signal the ECM for vehicle speed. So if your speedometer works then chances are VSS is fine. Concentrate on ISS, and if fine then your tranny is slipping. You are not cluttering the posts, on the contrary. Ask away and do it here so that someone with your issue can benefit. That's why I do this. THanks and good luck.

Hello, just FYI even if you disconnect the pressure reg. solenoid, the trans pressure should go to max high. So a short or faulty pressure sol. would still not drop the pressure. That's also a test you could do, if you haven't already, is disconnect the PS and see what happens. Though I should mention it. Good luck.

Forget the WSS as these have nothing to do with your transmission problem. On vehicles where the speed is taken at the WSS (2007-up) one of the WSS is the one in charge of that AND often IT IS NOT published, typical... But that's not you. P0730 means that the range switch or pressure switches say 4th gear, but comparison between ISS and OSS doesn't match that. ECM knows the ratio of ISS-to-OSS on the waveform, so it knows the trans is slipping. Range, ISS, OSS/WSS can cause erroneous codes.

What's fsm? Don't use the MM to check AC. On MM the AC setting is an averaging measurement, which is not accurate. Use Graphing multimeter or scope. You want at least 2 volts peak-to-peak.

OK thanks and my vehicle is a 2002 mazda protege with a 1.6 zm engine in it it has abs speed sensors on all four wheels just wanted to know 1. does my ecm takes output readings from the tront sensors or both front and back? 2. well you said if my speedometer works properly then chances are my wss are fine? what are the chances of it throwing a p0730 incorrect gear ratio code? 3. after reading what mryemen74 posted should i clean them just to be sure that this isnt the culprit thanks

You can fix this problem with STP Brake Parts Cleaner assists in the prevention of uneven braking, noise and chattering by quickly dissolving and washing away lining dust, brake fluid, oily road film and grit to leave brake surfaces clean, without disassembly, and also can be used with clean your wheel speed sensor by open the speed sensor scart of cable connection which is near of wheel base for all, almost time problem came from cables scart lose!

Ok today I Tested the WSS got good ohm reading according to my fsm but when i tried using my multimeter to get a ac reading as per fsm i go nothing can you shed any light on the subject? the meter is a fluke auto range unit and yes i confirmed that its working properly thanks!

Ok did the pressure test today on idle the pressure is within spec but on the stall test all tests came back below specs what can this indicate? bad seals ? valvebody problem? anyways thanks for your help!!

ok after reading it a couple times i understand what you mean im reading my manual and it says low pressure in the forward gears only, means a forward clutch hydraulic failure eg clutches what do you think??

factory service manual sorry i dnt have a scope or gm i'll pressure test tom and get back to you! but still wont it show a reading on the mm?

Hey me again I didt want to clutter your posts anyways if my guages work properly eg speedometer and tachometer can my wss still be faulty and give me the p0730 incorrect gear ratio? i'm about to test them per fsm for resistance also which sensors do my fwd protege use to tell the ecm the speed the vehicle is going the front sensors only or front and back sensors??

ok thanks your talking about solends lol ok my bad i should of known well i try cleaning the wss they are really gunked up i read that most people fixed there p0730 code by cleaning out there valve bodies as well it seems to be a hydraulic problem others say a p0730 code is sensor related and has nothing to do with bands, seal, clutches etc well im offcially stumped i'll after checking all the sensors you stated for resistance and continuity cont-

why are you now telling me this lol keep those ideas coming lol so what your saying go back into my valve body and disconnect the pressure reg sol and when i do a pressure test again i should see my pressure increase to max?
