Osaka's had pretty good scheduling this year, honestly. She's willing to play 250s (Rouen, Libema), she's not running away from natural surfaces anymore, she's regularly playing tournaments and not letting losses break her down. I think this will pay dividends later in the season, the willingness to try and building up of her muscle memory and match toughness. Contrast that with Wozniacki and Kerber, who have had objectively worse comebacks. Neither play that regularly (making it hard to produce any type of rhythm or momentum) and neither seem willing to play 250s or 125s (putting a lot of pressure on matches with higher ranked opponents). I also think Osaka should think about 125s to get matches in, but her standing right now could be much worse.

Even Osaka don't expect being on that lengthy a layoff and return to reap rewards against quality opposition in competition! Tennis is a rhythm game and the biggest and hardest thing to regain after long absence from the game is muscle memory! If your returns are too short, too high, don't have enough pace, same give your opponents easy put aways! Most players on comebacks to competition after layoffs needs match practice to regain that muscle memory! Osaka haven't hit her peak as a player yet and I think in her games she's too passive and laid back! Never going for the jugular..Somehow that ruthless killer instinct of a Champion we have seen in past players as Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Barty and Serena haven't come to the fore as yet! She gots grace of time to patiently play herself back into a winning form! A #6 ranked player was too early a challenge for her form to navigate for a victory!

I would say the opposite is the case: Osaka is recently losing 83% of the three set matches she plays. If this is not consistence, then what is?

Qinwen tactic was very clean. She moved Osaka around who is lacking in mobility with those extra pounds she carries.

This match demonstrates an impressive victory by an Asian player over a Mixed Asian opponent. It shows that Asians do not need to have African ancestry to excel as super athletes. Many believed Naomi's exceptional athleticism stemmed from her African father, but Zheng's triumph clearly shows that a purely Asian individual can defeat anyone.

girl wtf… literally no one has said that her athleticism came from her dads ethnicity… bsfr

I need Wim to no longer attend Naomi's matches against Qinwen. 😂
