@monty niranjan well my original comment says I hope she can do this in the majors so I obviously know she needs to bring it there. But she is not a flash in the pan. As I said she’s won a lot of tournaments on different surfaces including two grand slams. I think it is only a matter of time before she win the others. Also those players you listed (Serena, Graff, etc) are legends so no shame Ash hasn’t gotten there yet.

I’m looking forward to the ranking system fixing itself this year. Rybakina deserves to be ranked higher. She consistently performs highly in big tournaments and has been stuck where she is for too long.
@footfault19413 жыл бұрын
Wide of the mark. Agreeing with her remarkable performance around the end of the previous season, criticizing the ranking system finds no base. Her better results give her more points to climb up the ranking, but that's not all. If higher ranked players mark the similar results as the preceding 52 weeks, there would be no margin for Rybakina to be ranked high. In this vein, poor performance by other players could push her up. Not straightforward at all.
@falks9413 жыл бұрын
@@footfault1941 I understand what you mean but I’m not talking about the system in general. I’m talking about the changes made because of COVID-19 where the 52-week system was temporarily abandoned. The same system that kept Federer in the top 10 of the atp rankings despite him playing no tennis for months. If Rybakina had the same results without the adjusted system, she wouldn’t have been stuck at 19/20 for months. Once the system has fully resettled, the rankings may reflect more accurately. It’s already better now that she’s made a sudden jump to #14.

In normal situations, Ash has the whole package, but there is always one player who is having the fortnight of their life (Raducanu and Fernandez at last US Open), they call it in the zone, and can beat Barty, Halep and others in a row.
