Both players are amazing talents. Naomi with her power, accuracy and ability to dictate, and Ash with her all court game, consistency and variety. I'm sure both will be in the top 5 ending 2020 once again. Great Match between two great talents.

Ash's serve must be among the best in women's tennis. Amazing in fact, considering her height. Her forehand is formidable too. That's talent. However, her flat/topspin backhand must be among the worst among top players. Naomi really exposed that weakness in this match
@omniexistus
@omniexistus 4 жыл бұрын
It's a slice backhand and actually it hurts opponents in other ways like causing them to be out of position and mishit because of the change of pace and short slice (ala Federer's). Did you see Barty's other matches? She's played players on fire like Collins and Kvitova and beat them because that shot drains flat hitting.
@willybeama1
@willybeama1 3 жыл бұрын
Good eyes. She slices a great deal. She uses the slice as a bit of a crutch though. Relies too heavily on it and players adapt. Once she starts to mix the backhand up more she’ll be a nightmare.

@@willybeama1 she’s retired now but I think she turned her slice into a major weapon by AO22. Definitely more of an asset than a crutch

sure they are talented, but man this is the negation of tennis, beyond the worst imaginable definition of boring. Women tennis is catastrophic these days. WIth guys it's been pretty much the same thing with Nadal, Jokovich, but at least Federer brought some variety and true beautiful tennis and now some of the younger player also are bringing some fresh exciting play style. OFC I am not taking anyway away what great achievements Nadal and Joko have accomplished, just bloody boring tennis.

Naomi's peak is unplayable whenever she starts peaking. She hits big with plenty of margin and her athleticism is great. Adding fissite to her team, she is very serious about her slam chances next year. She can win 2 slams next year and she has the tools and weapons to win them. Barty is consitent but she doesn't have the highest peak but her consistency is amazing.

@@101poumi Naomi's peak is nowhere near Barty's peak. As Deepak said, Barty's consistency is great, but in terms of peaking at the crunch moments, it's definitely Naomi. Naomi has had relatively tougher draws enrouting her two slam wins compared to Barty's. The way Naomi fought against the tricky Sevastova, on fire Pliskova winning both of her encounters against them 6-4 in the decider at the AO, says it all. She had a collapse of her own when she threw the second set away, also seemed to be losing control in the third set in the finals against Petra, but recomposed to win. Not sure if Barty can do that, but you can't help whom you play. Let's see what these girls will do next year, Naomi already has been consistent enough to win top titles for a couple of years, not sure if Barty will be able to do it next year. Excited! Off to AO!

Naomi, Ash and Bianca have all won grandslam titles but they are still young. They have not reach their peaks yet as there are a lot of things they can still improve on in a few years yet they are already dominating the fields. Barring injuries to any of these very talented girls, the next few years should be very exciting indeed

Just to put it to bed, Barty has a really great backhand slice. This is a super old style of playing but it's really effective. It takes all the momentum off the ball and slows down the rally and puts the opponent on the back foot because of the spin, Barty plays a head game as much as a power game. She has the best backhand slice in the game.
