To me the boardroom scene with the gratuitous gunshots goes so far over the top it is straight up shoots the moon and becomes parody. All the while he knew when to take the violence seriously like Murphy’s death and him being shot at later on by the police. He can do all that and leave us with touching moments like when Robo goes through what’s left of his home, haunted by memories of his family. That along with him taking off his helmet and that ending when he tells the Old Man to call him Murphy… always gets me, perfect way to end the movie.

Murphy, the good cop trying to stand up to evil dies, is reincarnated as an immortal being and comes to stand up for the innocent. RoboCop is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.

The fact that the main male lead and the main female lead have a purely professional relationship and at no point have a romantic interest in eachother is something that makes Robocop very unique. The fact we almost got a sex scene between the two kind of disgusts me more than it probably should. I just think it's kinda weird that the producers were like: "this movie sucks because nobody has sex in it. Change the script and add more to it." I'm so glad that we got the version we did.

I grew up with a police officer for a father, and when I saw RoboCop at the age of-I don't remember-8, maybe?, it gave me nightmares for MONTHS because of the fear that something like that was going to happen to my father. That movie became the biggest point of contention in our family for YEARS because mom blamed my dad for all my nightmares and got so sick of coming into my room every night to help me when I would wake up screaming and drenched in sweat. Dad just thought the whole thing was kind of funny. LOL But they argued about RoboCop for years!! We joke about it today, but I can't say I'm much of a Verhoeven fan.

let's put it like this guys... Robocop is so perfect that even the Ronny Cox fall at the end couldn't ruin it. Period.

I saw this as a kid as soon as it made it to home video. I was young and thought it was another fun 80s action film. Watched it again last night for the first time since and wow was i wrong. The satire was biting in the first third of the film. Very much reminded me of Starship Troopers
