Don't you know the milkyway is a spiral? There is no escape.
@phlaryx7145Ай бұрын
I honestly love how they ordered the sequence of events here. I was thinking they would do it in chronological order same way as the manga, but instead they have each chapter cut up and intertwined with each other throughout. In the manga it feels like each chapter is its own isolated incident, but in the anime it feels like everything is spiraling out of control all at once and I think it was a smart decision to adapt it this way.
@AHBrandonReviewsАй бұрын
different mediums have different experiences and i can see why a manga would do that but for an anime the connecting all at once feels right
@cake94309Ай бұрын
Personally I think it was a bad decision as they cut so much out to make the pacing of the story different like Azami, it comes across she just develops an obsession with shuichi in one day when there is actually a bit of time between when they first meet and when she confesses her love to him
@phlaryx7145Ай бұрын
@@cake94309 To be honest I feel things were going to be cut regardless no matter how they tackled it since we’re only given 4 episodes. The manga’s story structure only really works in manga since each chapter has an episodic feel to it. The main story in the manga is only really the first couple of chapters and the last couple of chapters. Everything else in between is kinda just this monster of the week formula. If they were to translate that formula to the anime, then episodes 1 and 4 would contain the main story while episodes 2 and 3 would contain the other mini stories with no transitions between them. But the way they did it in the anime is kinda clever to me since all these events feel more connected.

After the anime was delayed a couple years ago I had to read the manga. Without going into spoilers, all I will say is I'm incredibly pleased with this first episode, with one small caveat. The entire production is top notch and looks and feels like Junji Ito's manga brought to life. The only concern I have is that it's four episodes. It will be more of a summary of the manga as opposed to a full adaptation. I highly recommend after seeing this to read it. It's only 19 chapters but leaves an impression on you. You'll see spirals everywhere after watching this.
@tgiacin435Ай бұрын
They’ll be able to do it I think. If they intertwine the stories as well as they did here, it’s gonna be crazy

Brandon, I have been waiting for this show for years. I watched it air on Toonami on an actual television Saturday night. You know what surprised me the most? They aired it in Japanese with subtitles. I have never seen subbed anime on TV before. I don't know if that means anime is becoming really popular or what. Also, my power went out from a hurricane on Friday morning. By Saturday afternoon, I accepted the fact that I was going to miss the premiere of the anime I had been waiting to see for YEARS. As I was outside at 7:15pm, flossing and brushing my teeth because it was too dark to see inside my house, I suddenly saw the kitchen light turn on. The power had returned. And I got to see my "Uzumaki" premier I had been waiting so long for.

Going that entire day thinking that I was actually going to miss the thing I had been waiting for ever since I saw the preview for it on Cartoon Network YEARS ago. I had been waiting. @@kingsboro1 I recommend going on adult swim's website if you're not watching it on a TV. It is in Japanese with english subs and it's way better than Max. I also can't stand how Max only has closed captions since I would totally use it to watch anime if it was like any other streaming app

This was well worth the wait. And I heard that the next episodes are 40 minutes long so my hype is through the roof! Watched it at 1:30 am with good headphones and no lights and it was better than expected! the Mocap + 3D animation and then 2D animation over it was such a good choice

I watched the first episode with my mom and she said “in other horror shows there is a scary monster or vampires or something, but here it’s just humans” at the start of the episode. I don’t remember what she thought about it though. I really like the animation, it is really disturbing. But I don’t like the pacing, they have overlayed 3 and half chapters into one episode. And the order of events are all over the place.

@rajvirmalhans2073Ай бұрын
This anime was initially announced in 2019. And funny enough this is airing on Toonami. The OST and black and white enhances the horror. Also the messy and detailed style helps. It’s ironic how spirals are often associated with positive meanings in Japanese media so Junji Ito was basically thinking of making them scary here. And it works. The trailer mostly showed clips from this episode so I’ll be curious on what the other episodes will be on. It sort of feels like that girl is the cause. In regards to Ito, I also like Gyo and stories related to Tomie.
@tgiacin435Ай бұрын
It was adult swim that helped produce this series so makes sense. As for the cause of the spirals, you’ll just have to wait. But I’ll give you a hint, the ashes were landing in dragonfly pond

This is definitely the best adaptation of junji itos work yet. I still recommend the manga to anyone who hasn't read it but likes what they saw of the first episode because they had to cut it down so the pacing at the beginning is actually pretty quick compared to the manga. Hey, Hope you been doing good man its been a while. I haven't watched anime and your channel since April cuz I had to focus on other things and I had to come back since this season has some interesting anime coming back like Re Zero, Arifuerta, Bleach(It will be something else) and Blue Lock(My favourite arc) etc and my current favourite manga Dandadan will premiere (Can't wait for your weekly reviews oh boy ) so as per the usual i tend to watch as many first episodes as possible cuz I believe in hidden gems. I had considered reading the Uzumaki manga a long time ago but never got around to it so I decided to check out the anime and was like yeah I love the use of black and white making it like animated manga panels although I don't like 3d animation but I wasn't too thrown off, the later half of the episode was a try not to drop my phone contest l, the body horror was wild. If things somehow get worse than what I witnessed, I don't think I am ready jeez. What a way to come back xd.
