I'm impressed in "Hey, going to show you here casually about arpeggios, let's do a couple chords" and ends up going full-on Vangelis.

There's some really nice features in this. Brings together a lot of what I do layering in productions, triggering off long pads on chord changes, layering varied arpeggio settings on different sounds etc. Very nice.

The extension of the arpeggiator in ableton looks so great! Wow. For some reason I never thought about doing that, or really knew that that existed - it seems like such a great way to speed up finding chords in the proper key for someone without a ton of musical experience/theory!

As someone with very little music theory knowledge, but a Hapax that will spit out chord inversions of a chosen scale at a touch of some buttons, kick them into an arpeggiator, and then let me do things like Euclidean sequence how those are played, with random chance, something like this arp machine is absolutely an incredible tool to have in your arsenal.

It'll always amaze me how quickly it seems you can just crank out musical ideas and put them together into a whole song. I only just started this year, but it frustrates me how stuck i get on a single measure, and by the end of the day it still feels iffy and unfinished. Im getting good at transcription though, hopefully with time i can create my own stuff confidently.

Arp: harp broken in to pieces Agio: comes from agile, you take an axe and brake the harp in to pieces in an agile way hence arpeggio, comes from Latin, means the breaker of the harps. In old days, after breaking harp players instrument you beat the player too as a good measure while people drank and enjoyed themselves.

Jeremy thank you so much for going through this, and for the quick Cthulhu walkthrough! I've been on the fence about the midicake arp and was looking at Cthulhu literally a few hours ago wondering if it could do something similar - this was all just so timely - and _then_ you mention the Sinfonion in passing and I remember that I have a "Minifonion" in the Droid eurorack module and you may have just saved me €500. Okay okay the Droid plus controllers is... more than that but what I'm trying to say is Thank You so much for being so open and joyous about sharing your know-how and insight ❤

Arpeggios are the reason to own an Omnichord or Le Strum. Logic Pro's arpeggiator is pretty freaking powerful too. You still need to drive the chord with external MIDI but you can do some pretty decent sequencing of the rhythm/velocity/mono-vs-poly switching/etc.

I remember as a kid, pouring myself a big bowl of arpeggios, with extra granulated sugar poured on top before sinking it all in milk, and settling in for four unadulterated hours of carbs and cartoons before the fishing and golfing shows came on tv. So yeah, have loved chthulu for a long time (i have to by law; Deadmaus lives about 15 min. away from me, and he worked (commissioned) on it with Xfer) . Does the Midicake have definite advantages over soft arps? So is that the catch, it can do what a lot if not most of what soft arps can do, but in a pure hardware package? Okay, I'm sold.

Hey Jeremy! Question for you as this sounds like something perfect to solve a problem I have. I predominantly use a Launchpad Pro as my controller of choice and use it with my Maschine+. The Launchpad Pro does not have an arp, and the Maschine+ does not run external MIDI inputs through its own arp. Do you think this would be the ideal choice to overcome that? Should I look at other things too? Should I just suck it up and use Maschine's pads for the arp? What do you think?
