This is the current line-up from HHKB with sound tests. Not an ad, I'm just a fan.

What few mention is its extraordinary fatigue mitigation ability. It’s made for people who need to type A LOT. I have the HYBRID Type-S, and more so than the sound, the almost cushy bouncy feel of the keys make continued fast typing a breeze.

There can be a bit of scratch. But it’s somehow an appealing feeling unlike scratch on MX. After lubing the sliders it does get smoother.
@willtato8778
@willtato8778 Жыл бұрын
The type S also has less travel. People sometimes think the S stands for silent and that the silencing pads cause this, but the designer said that S also stood for speed, and that the lower travel could enhance the feel at fast speeds. Whether that's just funny marketing or not I'm not sure (I'm a little suspicious tbh), but it might be worth knowing.

to my knowledge the new hybrid type-s has longer sliders to take into account the height of the silencing ring.

@@leonardphil2490 that may be so, but the travel is still less. The designer mentioned this, and it's also reflected in the specs being 3.8mm instead of the 4mm.

These are a switch where I greatly prefer the sound and type feel of them non-lubed. Silenced Topre is my favourite switch, and keyboards as a hobby straight up ended for me when I got a Type S HHKB. I love the form factor, layout, feel, sound and functionality. Even though I had become lukewarm on 60% before it. But after using the HHKB I pretty much immediately lost all interest in other keyboards and packed up my customs. Seems to be my endgame. Using it just makes me genuinely happy and satisfied, typing and gaming.

I never really looked into it, and now I know why they call it the "happy hacking keyboard" it sounds just like the stereotypical 'typing sound effect' that you see in movies/tv shows and KZbin videos among other forms of media.
@sEaNoYeAh
@sEaNoYeAh 3 ай бұрын
Tbh they really don't, movie hacker keyboards are more like Alps or similar. The HHKB is called such because it was designed with a notable Japanese computer scientist, Eiiti Wada, who designed from a coding practicality perspective, keeping everything close to the home position, and believing in high quality all around build quality and components.
