WTF Is Psycho Soldier?

We all know the classics like King of Fighters, Samsho, Fatal Fury, etc. But there's heaps of relatively unexplored SNK games out there, and in this video I continue my foray into them with a look at one of their earliest arcade titles, Psycho Soldier.

I own the Psycho Soldier board and its probably one of my favorite arcade games I own. Its like, SNK took notes from Athena, and cleaned it up a bit for Psycho Soldier.Both games are very ambitious for an arcade title and have a lot of rules and mechanics you need to master in order to progress. For someone to sit down and play it for the first time, its going to eat some money up before getting through the first stage. Graphics and sound for the time are top notch!

It is, but it’s also very rewarding if you plan to optimize score. Waiting for the pickup items (UFOs, Balloons) to float for a while and then catching them before they reach past offscreen (especially at the upper part of the screen) grants you a much higher score than only killing the enemies in the game.

Yep, here the content creator was 100% wrong. Strange that he didn't know that. Clark and Ralf also were already quite popular, which is why they were added in KoF in the first place. In other words they have exactly the same background as Athena.

The easiest way of remembering how to pronounce Sie in Sie Kensou is that his name is a pun on "sequence" (which was apparently some kind of programmer joke idk)

Regarding the "sie" in Sie Kensou: its literally "sea" then "e" like in "Ending" or "Eleven" no silent e rule or anything just all 3 letters said verbaitum "A-tina " wierds me out though, im faily certain its with a "thorn" sound but japanese doesent have that so it got a bit lost in translathion, great show JS!

@@peposo7 indeed many do. although many cant resist the urge to put an "ee" sound after the "eh" since no english word ends in just an "eh". it helps to shrug after the "C" like: "see?.. eh" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ thats my understanding atleast. wach this be competley disproven when he gets put in 15 & the anouncer goes: " Heres A-Tinas teamate Show Kenshiro"

My thoughts while watching this video: 1:08 - "Fatal Fury"? Legendary. "Fire Emblem"? What's that? a Final Fantasy like RPG? 1:53 - Is that narrator from a KOF game? Ever since KOF94, Athena introduces herself: case in point, the scene at 1:59.But you can hear it in this video, in the song at 5:28. 5:23 - The best version of this song is in KOF94 Neo Geo CD. It has the vocals included, unlike the cartridge version. 6:55 - An action RPG that probably inspired WONDERBOY IN MONSTERLAND, that cameout 1 or 2 years after. This ATHENA is one of the last Bosses in SNK VS CAPCOM. 7:12 - Whoa! by this time, there were some J-horror movies about teenagers going about. This actually reminded me of the EKO EKO AZARAK movies. 8:12 - So in KOF94 they were training for the events you said(2:38) happened in late 80's? I prefer to say its a reboot, just like the Ikari Warriors in KOF 8:30 - Below Luigi? Pshh...Luigi wishes he could turn into a dragon... 9:36 - in 1987, Arcade games in general, did a huge technological advancement compared to the first half of the 80's. A great number of those titles were played also played a lot in console ports.

If we are going the Sprite Based Metroidvania route, I would definitely look to RabiRibi and Cresprit's upcoming game Tevi for influence, maybe a reduced emphasis from bullet hell and more on special moves with fighting game inputs... I guess like Castelvania SotN. Form of Phoenix and stuff.

It varies for fire emblem. Three houses had an excellent story but, there was a lot of fluff and filler that drags the game down. Engage is supposed to have the best game play but, the story is mid.
