@@what898 it’s at an interesting point, really. While I can’t say I’m bored of the game, but I also can’t say that I play it regularly either. In recent years, there’s this mentality of longer-standing/lasting games like fighting games where at a certain point, my desire to continue playing in pursuit of learning or improving hits a point of satiation. Once I reach that point, I usually step away from the game as to not grind my feelings with it into the ground, ya know? All issues with certain person(s) within the development team aside, I still think the game’s neat.

Merrisa Meda Second Encore was my first fighting game, so here’s a few tips from someone who’s playing the game: - Before you dive into playing online, I suggest playing the tutorials or story mode to get the hang of the controls (story mode is especially helpful because you can adjust the difficulty) - If you have someone in your house to play with, I suggest playing a few rounds with them - It takes a couple of days to get used to the gameplay. Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it eventually if you put your mind to it - If possible, main Squigly. She’s probably the best character to main for beginners (from my personal experience) And yeah. Since your comment was made 5 years ago, maybe you already dove into the game. But if you didn’t, I hope you take some of these into consideration

I find that the best way to play if you don't have a fight stick is to sort of hybridize the keyboard with a game pad. You can get the analog stick for movement and bind your attacks to 123456 on the num pad. It feels more like a fight stick and works really well in this game.

i honestly love how no matter how good a game's graphics, soundtrack, or physics are, the second more than 3 sets of large breasts have been spotted, people just get into that "OMFG THIS GAME IS JUST FAN-SERVICE" mode. Firstly, this is not the only game to do this kind of thing, for example Dead or Alive. Many other companies have made money off of just ditzy girls who's only redeeming factors are their figure. Secondly, these characters actually have this good ol' thing called a story behind them, they aren't just babes that flaunt their goods for no other reason than to be arousing. Thirdly, why are people complaining about THIS? The internet has clearly spoiled us with much worse than this, but apparently some people still wanna act like they're kids back in the day when the internet didn't exist. Kids (yes, i am calling you all kids, since this is how you guys wanna react to this), grow up, get a girlfriend, get laid, and actually worry about how a game plays for once.

Great video for an amazing game. I played it on PS3, and think of it as a greatest hits of fighting games. Every character fills an archetype perfectly, and they share a lot of move characteristics with other famous characters from that archetype, so learning how to play this game really helps you learn other fighting games, and is actually HELPED by the small roster (which has an extra four characters coming over the next few months. There's also an infinite prevention system. Great game.

There are a lot of features that you would write home about if you're an avid FG player but for those that play casually or that are new you wouldn't really care about such as: Holding start to pause, save state in practice, show hitboxes, and a tutorial that actually shows advanced mechanics in FGs in general such as high-low mixups.

I picked Skull Girls so I could properly learn the genre and I haven't regretted that decision. The tutorial and option to show the hitboxes makes learning the basics quite easy. Another great thing is that SG is a mix of other popular Fighting series, plus the fact it only has 8 characters rather than 30 means you learn the basic character archetypes of rushdown (fillia) Zoner (peacock) and Grappler (Carabella) alot quicker. Skullgirls is perfect for branching into other FTGs

Character design in Skull girls is creative and original. All the characters are unique funny and have interesting stories and backgrounds. They are strong and powerful characters and all have their own personality and took longer than a couple of months to develop. Character design is more than about proportions or being anatomically correct. Its about the overall character design and development from story, acting, animation, and special moves and how they relate to the main story.

Hit confirmation is using a minor attack like a light punch/kick to ensure that a greater, more devastating combo/move will take place afterwards. If the attack hits the guy you can be sure whatever follow up will hit, but if he were to block that attack you won't hit confirm, making you aware not to try something that leaves you vulnerable because it's likely that he'll block that one too.

As a heavy FGC gamer I'm EXTREMELY impressed by TotalBiscuit's review. He's almost, completely spot on on all of his advice about this and fighting games in general. The GGPO is what's making the matches seem lagless, BlazBlue has the best netcode, Street Fighter IV the best online features and Skullgirls, by far, the best training mode. If anyone wants to try to get into the FGC, despite the community's Way of the Closed Fist attitude, play Skullgirls first.

No matter what you use, the keyboard has much more travel than a button. The finger has to press into the button longer meaning your reactions are a bit slower because of it. In FPS games and a lot of games this doesn't matter. In fighting games you want a lot of crisp movement so it can make a difference I think.

Skullgirls is gaining a very strong community. It was narrowly defeated by Melee in the donation war for an EVO slot, and still got a B-listed tournament at EVO with a very nice turnout, well-practiced competitors, and quite a bit of hype behind it. I am liking where Skullgirls is going, and I can only hope it makes enough to afford reaching its fullest potential.

Originaly Skullgirls was a design by Alex Ahad which wasn't even a fighting game yet. Mike Z a fighting game player and MvC2 fan later joined in and together with a team they developed the game. Zone liked the game so she made a flash animation game which had nothing to do with the developers. Later on, Zone became a Clean-up artist for the DLC characters.

Yep. I dont really see anything issues with character design here; its what you would expect from an over the top fighting game. There are times where its a little ridiculous but its not intrusive or distracting.

Persona 4:Arena had a nice robust tutorial as well. I'm glad to see more games doing that. It really helps out in fighting games.
