As a bucks fan and someone who’s watched all the games closely. I can give a brief explanation for each game.. Game 1: Of course the loss of Giannis affects you but the most important factor was the 3pt shooting of both teams(One team shot 60% and the other shot 22%) The heat have been absolutely lights out this series and had essentially been in playoff mode for a few weeks now, we didn’t play with the intensity of a playoff team. Game 2: While it would be easy to pin this on the shooting again(just in our favor) what I think was a bigger factor in us winning the game was us utilizing our size for rebounding and paint scoring. We fed Brook Lopez which allowed us to get a lead, and maximized that lead with the shooting. Game 3: For whatever reason, the ball movement and paint scoring that allowed us to win game 2 literally went out the window. Bud’s inability to make adjustments and unwillingness to guard the 3 showed out here. Jimmy Butler has been absolutely automatic this series as well(Holiday is a great defender but with Jimmy being taller and able to finish through contact, he can comfortably shoot over him despite the defense. That’s a spot where having Giannis benefits you). They responded we didn’t, simple. Game 4: I think we played this game pretty well all things considered. We had a 12 point lead within the last 6 minutes of the game. Some things throughout the game that we could have done better though: Jrue’s shot selection was terrible and he often took step back 3s early into the shot clock without moving the ball. As I said earlier with Bud’s adjustments, Giannis was never switched on Jimmy to mitigate him, despite him having his way with everyone on our defense but him. Down the stretch what caused us to lose the game was our loss of intensity. Jrue, turned the ball over and Khris let Jimmy get easy points at the line( there was a questionable call here and there but that wasn’t the main reason). The Heat stayed within striking distance the whole game and took advantage when we stopped playing hard. They made their shots, the played great defense, and Jimmy showed up when it mattered most. Overall: This has been a winnable series for the Bucks, even with Giannis missing a few games. But the inconsistency from both our star players, shooting inconsistency, poor 3pt shooting defense, and lack of adjustments.

Coaching has cost this team to reach their peack too many times now. Bud gotta go. It's a shame Udoka went to Houston because he could have done wonders with this team. 2019, they reach the Conference Finals and have a 2-0 lead and the Raptors adjust and put that wall on Giannis and make Kawhi his primary defender for the rest of the series. Bud refuses to adjust and they lose 4 straight. Giannis becomes one of the worst players on the court because they refuse to adjust that series. Next year, they get Miami and Miami does the same thing. They create that wall. Now unlike Toronto, Miami actually used their playoff tactics for the Bucks in the regular season too. They were the only team that regular season to beat the Bucks multiple times and Giannis had his 2 worst games in those 2 Miami games. Playoffs come and Miami does the same thing and after having months to adjust to that, they try the same thing and they make no trades either for shooters through out the season. Miami wins 3 straight and the series is over at that point, Giannis gets injured despite starting the game with monster numbers in game 4 but he gets injured but Middleton has a great game but they lose in 5. 2021, they trade for Holiday, move of the offseason. Playoffs come and they sweep the Heat this time, the Heat had health problems all year but they weren't winning that series any way. They get to Brooklyn, Harden's out but they get blown out in Brooklyn. They comeback home, win 2 games and Kyrie gets hurt and KD is literally the only player that can kill you in that series the rest of the way and he nearly does it. You don't double him and challenge him to beat you in a critical game 5 and he does. Has one of the greatest playoff performances ever. Has a rough game 6 with turnovers but still scores decent and you literally refuse to double him despite his efficiency with high volume and he nearly eliminates you on his own in game 7 but the Bucks, in a sense, do get lucky and end the series. 2022, game 6 against Boston, they get too comfortable and they let Tatum have the game of his life and they lose in 7. And now this year, Tyler Herro is out. Giannis comeback and your playoff lives are on the line. The Heat apart from Butler scores 6 total points in the first quarter and Butler alone scores 22. And they doubled Butler a total of 4 times in the whole game. And it's not unexpected either. Butler has been playing great the whole series, he was amazing the first quarter and no other Heat is giving you anything. Their 2nd best scorer was Bam with 15, the Heat apart from Butler shot 43% from the field and you refused to trap and double the one guy that was playing great. And you make no adjustments and Butler gets all the switches he wants anytime he wants. You have Brook Lopez guarding Butler in some possessions one on one while Butler's behind the 3 point line and you have Jrue guarding him in the low post. That's literally the opposite of what you should want with Butler. Jrue Holiday looked like the only guy that did at least something with him but you can't have Jrue, a smaller guard, guarding him with Butler in the low post. This is the equivalent of Fuck Around and Find Out in the playoffs and it has been with the Bucks for the past 5 years. They have shot their own foot time and time again for the past 5 years and everytime the issue is adjustments and defending star players. It's ridiculous.

I feel like this team desperately needs a John Stockton to Giannis' Karl Malone. A pass first guard who has great vision but doesn't necessarily need to be a great scorer. They need someone to *run* this offense, it can't be Giannis, he can do literally everything else but he can't do that. No disrespect to Jrue or Khris either because I think they are great players in their own right but not ideally suited to that role. Imagine someone like Hali or a younger Rubio running the half court, setting up that two man game with Giannis, I feel like that could be a much more dangerous offense and even if you have to sacrifice a bit on the defensive end, these playoffs are showing us that the old 'defense wins championships' adage really isn't true anymore.

I definitely agree with Rusty that our half court offense is the big problem. Way too many possessions where Holiday, Middleton, or Giannis just chucks a three instead of running any offense. The bucks have had their issues guarding the three in the past, but I didn’t see that at least in game 4. Heat are shooting over 50% on contested threes, really just feels like a team that got hot at the right time.

A lot has to do with Bud's lack of direction when it comes to coaching, and Middleton's late start/hindered start really killed his scoring prowess, leading to no clear 2nd option when Giannis goes down.

Badly coached team due to Budenholzer, the roster is on the older side (front office guy fault), several players are either inconsistent or just one dimensional, some players are criminally over payed (Khris, Jrue), also a "friend squad" which means if you trade any of the core players everyone is out... Still, this team has played some amazing basketball, but seriously they have some of the highest highs and lowest lows, they fluctuate between orgasmic basketball and absolute garbage time. As a bucks fan, i think IF we're going to play like this, we don't deserve to advance towards the second phase of the playoffs, i'd rather we went fishing. Unless they somehow flip a switch tomorrow and turn everything around, which i doubt will happen, but one can only hope... Also, why is everyone having career night against us, just look it up! GG to Butler, he played his heart out, i almost cheered for him too. 👌

There is a lot to be said about the coaching decisions for the bucks - not letting the decision-making from our guards off the hook, the 8 man rotation when you're dealing with injuries and just frankly an older roster makes no sense. I don't know why we didn't see Carter in there for a 3-5 min burst of just crazy ball pressure. Jrue just isn't the same when the "big 3" are in who knows why - Giannis did need and IV and serious treatment after the game, Portis doesn't bring the energy we need from him when we're on the road - he's gotta figure out how to ramp up the intensity when we're away especially since his minutes are going to be more limited.
