Nothing else is handled like it was this episode, and there's nowhere near a "ton." Once you get past this episode/chapter everything else is fine, even when it deals with serious material. If someone goes into this show expecting it to be this sexual, they will be very disappointed. The series is much more than that.

Those scenes were really only in the first episode. The series deals with darker tones at times, however it usually is pretty surface level and not too over the top. Please don’t worry about it too much, the series is really great!

Scenes (SA) are quite rare, only occurring in the first chapter and another after several chapters in the manga, but not at the same level of the first chapter. They are one of those things that surprise you because of the sudden uptick in tone, since the manga is not like that all the time.

Manga Reader here. Ya'll be fine from now on. Mind you this is a romcom/slash shonen battle/ sci fi/ occult adventure. The chemistry of the main characters is the number one selling point and it what gives this series it's soul imo. It's nonstop wholsomeness that keeps on giving. This series is cocaine yo.

The story has some very crude, uncomfortable and dark moments. However it does not beat a dead horse and constantly repeat SA. It happened in ep 1 to show the stakes in the show (just how terrifying aliens can be), but it did it in such a way by making jokes about "Bananas," so it wouldn't be too dark. Dandadan has masterfully written characters and phenomenal flashbacks. But if you can't handle darker themes such as "selling yourself because you're in debt with the yakuza and unaliving yourself once they take your 5-year-old daughter for ransome" and "trying to unalive yourself and your son by throwing yourself and him under a train" then maybe this isn't a show for you. Sorry for the spoilers, but I just wanted to give a warning, seeing how you reacted to those scenes.

This series is a series where you just fall in love with all the characters and the relationships they have with each other. Yea it goes 0 to 100000000, real quick lol but it also has a lot of heart and it just makes you feel good seeing them grow. So happy you watched it and it’s getting the adaptation and love it deserves

When I started reading the manga at the beginning there was a lot of fan service, but after the fourth chapter it disappears, Ken's relationship with Momo is really cool, when the anime ends I recommend reading the manga

I'm parroting a comment by a different commenter on a different video, but the SA-ish scene was just included by the author because SA is such a common event described in abductions along with the organ harvest thing, which the Serpo were also planning to do. Its just him sticking to alien lore, though I do understand that it may be uncomfortable for some viewers. AFAIK scenes like that do not happen again.

There's something (can be anything) commonly used in storywriting called a Plot device, it is something the characters chase/look/yearn for to advance the plot - like one piece in one piece, becoming hokage/chasing Sasuke in Naruto, Sukuna's fingers in JJK, becoming No1 hero in MHA, Hogyoku in Bleach. For Dandadan, the author is just taking a piss at the plot device using wieners and nuts but it's more as a cheap/dirty joke rather than any real obscenity so no worries. Just think of it as "something important" and that's about it, doesn't affect the characters and story in other ways.

To be fair while its disturbing specially for a first episode, IMO its never that bad. Its not a really dark series, so while the themes are dark here and there its never as bad as something like goblin slayer imo. Its more like it covers dark adult themes, but always keeps it from becoming a dark series.

Dan da Dan isn't my cup of tea! I did like the Original season of FLCL, but this is far ruder than FLCL. I guess I'm showing my age a bit. I may watch Ep 2. just to be sure, cause in all honesty "Goblin Slayer" was very rough in Ep. 1 of the 1st Season, but even that seem to have a legit purpose for the rough scenes. Anyway, always enjoy your reactions to the anime's you react to!

I'm not trying to justify it or say you have to like it, but to me, it's clear that the author really enjoys horror movies. The s/a scene, along with sexuality in general, plays a significant role in the themes of horror because they appeal to teens and serve as a window into the coming-of-age experience, how a girl's major fear is becomes being objectified and a boy being controlled by their libido. Again, I'm not saying you have to like it, but I appreciate it
