We travelled to New York for the Grand Turismo World Tour to race against one of the greatest F1 drivers to never win a title, Juan Pablo Montoya.
This man has had some pretty eventful team radio moments, so we thought we'd also test his memory with a little team radio quiz. Oh deer...
Thanks to Gran Turismo for having us!

Senna was better than Schumi. Don’t forget that although his Williams has problems in 1994, he managed to outqualify Schumi. I would say that Schumi was better than Montoya though. It was a shame that Montoya left F1, as I did quite like him. He made it interesting. He also did some daring moves.

Actually he once spoke to Colombian TV and said that the reason why he hated press is bc they never ask good questions, they just want to dig into the drivers nerves and try to get the best headline instead of the actual information. In Spanish we call it "prensa amarilla" and is like what recently happened to Norris, he was recently asked "If Checo wasn't Max's partner, who do you think would be a good partner/rival for him" Lando mentioned some names like Lewis, Alonso, Charles and so. But the Spanish media turned his words around as if he was saying Checo is a bad partner for Max and as if he hated Checo. So yeah I think that's the reason that Montoya was so blunt about his rejection to press and media and why he says that he likes Max's personality bc he is also very blunt too

I've watched dozens of races without a single overtake for the top 5. It was like watching a train. As for team orders nowadays, tell that to Barrichello, Webber, Massa, Irvine, Coulthardetc etc...No2 drivers will always be number 2. A Sunday evening in London during March 2001…. I switch on the television and see an onboard shot of a driver applying extreme opposite lock of every corner. Has the WRC made a trip to Albert Park, I thought? Then I see the name on screen flash up, it was Juan Pablo Montoya. My 13 year old self had thought F1 was quite boring up until that point, but JPM’s balls-to-the-wall style, swagger and total confidence got me hooked on the F1; I’m still interested to this day. He has won in Nascar, Indy car, and formula 1. That's something alot of drivers can't claim. Juan is a triple race class champion.

Something about Montoya. No matter whether you’re a F1, Indycar, or a NASCAR fan. You have a memory of Juan Pablo, of course the NASCAR memory that most people have is the jet dryer thing but still everyone has a lot of memories of him.

Well Juan was the rising number one in his season one of formula one career back in 2001, so it’s safe to say that Juan was one of the fastest ones which makes me wonder why he hadn’t won one single championship during his formula one career. Poor Juan.

I was never a big fan of Montoya when he was in F1, but I miss having characters like him in F1. He left the sport too soon. It's great to see that it looks like he is in a good place nowadays, and is even complimentary of the current state of the sport.

Montoya was [is] awesome in f1,the only guy to really challenge Schumacher.its true, the stewards were always against him favouring Schui or others, was always rooting for him but since he left I like Kimi.good luck Juan Pablo Montoya.

Matt, your carreer is absolutely stunning! I still remember your legendary rivalry against Fisifan in AOR (Basically what brought me into competetive Sim Racing, which I slacked off on recently, tbh...) but anyhow. At that time I never thought it was possible to actually make a career, meet those real racing legends and even drive a real F1 car out of it! Absolutely amazing!
