M2 GMC Square Body Pickup Trucks - REVIEW

I’m from Canada as well and usually check out Walmart’s for M2 now. I just started my collection of 1/64 vehicles and have about 16 vehicles now. One chev. C 60 truck and trailer with 68 Camaro Z28, 2 56 Ford F-100 trucks from the auto lift series, 58 Chevrolet Apache bush truck, 62 VW minivan with Coka Cola livery and the rest are muscle cars from 67 to 70 era and 2 classic cars. Am enjoying the collecting. I’m not a full on horder or have a addiction to collecting everything but I will try to get the vehicles I like the most. All I really need is a Mustang, Roadrunner, Camaro, Barracuda, and a Firebird and I’ll be a happy camper and display them happily on a shelf

Square bodies rock. A friend of mine back in high school, his dad started Long Motor Company, which became LMC Trucks. My friend had a lifted 79 Silver Silverado that was one of their show trucks. I've owned 3 square bodies over the years and I wouldn't mind finding another someday. I love these GMC's since my first one was a 77 GMC Sierra that I dropped 4 inches and built a wicked 400 small block for it.

Great story, I would love to own an old Square Body myself. Around my parts of southern Ontario, most of these trucks are rusted away, very hard to find any for a reasonable price that aren't in rough shape or that have been modified undesirably

Thanks for the video. I was lucky to find 4 of the square body syndicate ones at my local Walmart a few days ago. The grills did change very little though out the years of production, 73-79/80 for the round headlight squares. 73 and 74 are the same, 75 and 76 the same, 77, 78, 79 the same. In 80 you could get round or square headlights. The square body syndicate ones do appear accurate with the slight grill changes, and your 79 looked accurate as well...

The Trans-Am trucks were the 4th release of the M2 squarebody trucks. AutoZone was 1st, Coke and an O'reilly's exclusive Edelbrock were almost simultaneously released for 2nd and 3rd, 5th was a different Edelbrock and a black and white one. Next was Col. Squarebody, then Squarebody Syndicate, a Mooneyes and a Goodyear followed. The newest set, to be released Monday November 25 is a silver, white, black, and yellow set identical to the Trans-Am trucks of those colors without the thunder-chicken on the hood. This is the chronological order of release, not the order they were announced and images revealed. Col. Squarebody was the first of those.

The real square body models were produced from 1973 through 1991 except the regular cab pickups were done in 1987 on the half ton & three quarter ton ones, but the one ton ones on the other hand stayed in production up through 1989.

Cool looking truck but I’d prefer one with a normal ride height then low rider style. Plus a truck without the firebird decal on the hood. I really like the 56 or 70 Ford trucks or the 58 Chevrolet Ache step sides with spare wheel/tire on the side of the truck box. If I do happen to come across a square body tho first I’ll probably get it for my collection

Nice trucks but there’s no way I would pay $100 for a chase vehicle. M2’s are nice but the quality and beautiful detail is not always good on M2 especially the ones with opening doors and hoods. You really got to check them out and take a good look for bad castings and gaps in the doors or hoods. I’m not saying M2 is poor quality because I love them for their detail but they are a $6 to $10 price per vehicle so they should look great for that kind of money
