"What I said was there were more black families under Jim Crow," says the man raised by a single black mother and married to a white woman who fights to put education funds in charter schools. Segregation kept black folks together, and women had no legal or economic means to leave. Divorce rates increased across the board once women gained some autonomy, not because of welfare. Black people voted conservatively under Jim Crow? Is that why conservatives opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
