More people are leaving Indiana than almost any other state, data shows

Atlas Van Lines annually tracks outgoing moving shipments and incoming moves and concluded that people are leaving Indiana, based on their data. Indiana is now only runner-up to Illinois in terms of states people are leaving.

To be fair, I am sure more people are leaving CA more then Indiana. Also, some of the people leaving are leaving for states that have legalized Marijuana. If they live in Indiana, they have to choose to not be a ' criminal ' or bad health. I won't be surprised when other states legalize, more people will start avoiding our state. I mean, seriously, if you live in a legalized state and going to another legalized state...are you going to cut through Indiana and risk getting pulled over and busted because you have your legal weed with you? I sure wouldn't. Getting rid of the income tax and fixing the property tax would help maintain those of us that are still living here though...

To be fair.. California has higher population and income tax than Indiana. It's growth rate is also being out paced by Texas and Florida right now. This isn't the 60's or 70's anymore. California over the years has gone down hill since I remember. Also marijuana is not the primary reason why most people leave. The top of the list is cost of living and crime. California also has a lot more homeless people than any other state. It's fun to visit but you could not pay me to live there. Also it's not the only state with a beach As a former Florida resident Miami's South Beach is way cooler than LA's Venice Beach. No income tax in SoBe and less crap to step on over run by more homeless. Indiana may not have beaches or mountains but I'll take affordability any day to get more bang for your buck..

I live in Michigan and traveled to Indiana a ton at my old job. It’s 90% semi trucks and 10% cars. It’s annoying because they pass each other at .01mph. All interstates there are terrible for trucks. The worst being either I-65 or I-70. I-69 is bad too
