As a parent myself, this sort of incident would give me a heart attack. With that being said and not to sound mean, but maybe Layla should've stayed with the group. Teenagers are loud and I dont believe that they all quietly went into stealth mode and left her behind. The teacher, sub or not, should've done a head count instinctively before and after.
