I love this opening so fricking much I had to record an English cover. I know there's a lot lost in translation, but hopefully this adaptation keeps the essence. Feel free to use the lyrics for your own covers, just give credit!
P.S: Sorry about the quality of the recording (still haven't figured out the new setting) and instrumental, I couldn't find a decent version, so I had to make it myself x-x removing the vocals and changing the pitch will do this to audio tracks.

​@@user-ok3hb8ki6n It happened the same to me when I was writing the English lyrics! I tried to keep it ambiguous since it it could go both ways in different parts of their lives. This adaptation though mentions the poem from Xie Lian's perspective, as a hint. :)

I'm the audacious (or crazy) person who undertook to write a series of post-canon novels for TGCF. In other words, I picked up the pen when MXTX put hers down, and continue to imagine what happened in this world. Wu Bie is my favorite song from the soundtrack, but I don't know Mandarin beyond scattered words and phrases; I have to spend lots of time with songs and texts to look at lyrics and gain a sense of what they mean...and then with my bad memory, soon forget the specifics. This cover is really precious. It reminds me why we all devote so much to this fandom -- it is meaningful, beautiful, and tells a story that matters deeply to so many people who have lived with adversity and hope to overcome it. I too am a singer, and the sweet, clear quality of your voice, the delicate phrasing and careful attention to dynamics is a joy to hear. This song just went onto my favorites list and I thank you so much for recording it. You've made my day, and this is probably going to become my phone alarm for the next 5 years.

Omigosh! Trying to get a song that makes sense fron the literal translations is so hard! Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like it ^_^ Here are some tips I try to follow when I'm adapting lyrics into another language. Maybe you'll find them useful: - First I spend some time mulling over the overall message of the song, trying to think of it as something abstract rather than the literal words; then I try to put the feeling/message of the song in the simplest way in the language I want to translate it to. This could help you avoid the mistake of trying to translate it too literally or trying to fit in all the original sentences that don't really fit, and don't sound good in your language. When you don't have too many syllabes per verse, it's better to keep it simple. - I note down some key words and themes (in this case, "butterfly", "the passing of time", "hope" and "awaiting reunion" were the keywords for this one). - Don't be afraid to take some liberties and get poetic. The accuracy of the translation doesn't matter as much as the feeling it conveys, so prioritize what sounds good and has a similar vibe. If you get stuck on a phrase, think about what the melody conveys to you, and ignore the original lyrics. - In languages like Chinese the grammar is very different than in English. If you know the particularities of that language (for exemple, Chinese songs like this one tend to be pretty poetic and transcendent, not too explicit or straight-forward), I would try to imitate that tone as much as possible.
