When crack first hit dudes used to smoke it in weed. Before people knew what was up with it. I know a dude that became an addict from smoking what he thought was weed with someone, but it was laced with crack. Everyone that smoked crack didn't get addicted, but far too many people did.

Wu Tang change the game. They were groundbreaking in more than one way. From the numbers of emcees (9) to the unique production from RZA. And the kung fu samples that added uniqueness to the style. It was hard to recognized everyone and keep up with all the different styles and that added to the 'clan' mentality. Wu tang had their own words and slang but also the story telling and lyrics are very unique. This song has Raekwon, Method Man and inspectah deck.

Y'all ask to describe the vibes when this dropped. Well 1st off it struck a cord with a lot of young black youth bc of how vividly and accurate the rhymes and visuals are. Take note this dropped at a time when the state of hip hop was being submerged in Gangsta Rap and material Rap and had pretty much gotton away from conscious style hip hop. So The Wu Was like the 1st ones to get back to putting the medicine in the food. BC we gotta be honest not everybody was bussin a GAT or spending thousands in the mall. Cream was a song that actually captured the true social climate of the times. Which is the struggle that we all face to this day and that my friends is that... CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME

This song wasn't on a mix tape when it was first released. The first one to play this song on radio was funk master flex. I remember the night that i recorded/dubbed it off of the radio and he mentioned that it was THE first time ever being played. I took that this song to North Carolina during Christmas break and played it for cousins and they nearly lost their minds. lol

All I can say about the way it was back then.... I'm an older millennial (born 1982), so the Internet didn't become mainstream until I was 16. So when you heard an awesome song and you wanted to hear it again, you...waited. Either for it to play again on MTv or the radio, or you went to the store and bought it on tape or CD. I remember coming home from school and catching the last 10 seconds of Hypnotize and thinking NOOOOO i missed it again!

The vibe was like (and I hate this analogy) when 69 came back on IG with his first livestream. That’s how the buzz was when a big artist had a new album out. And think about it, the product was so anticipated that you and your crew went to the mall to buy it that week. Then bumped it in your system all summer.

People was using the word Lit back in the '80s here in NY Lit is not a new slang word LOL when Wu come out they blew up it was Wu-Tang everything they changed hip-hop not only for NY to the more rugged Boom Bap sound of East Coast Rap but the Business on how record contracts and merchandise and branding that's why Rappers have clothing lines and can be signed to different record labels as Groups and solo artists they are true pioneer's.

What you see in the video is how the city was in the 90’s, Before North Face bubble coat we rocked Bear coats, it was a brand back in the day, I’m from Harlem, but the city was as gritty as it depicted on this video, if it wasn’t for Mayor Giuliani aggressive approach to crime, the city wouldn’t be what it is now. Wu-Tang just showed the reality we all lived in all five boroughs during that time, visualization and strong lyrics with a message to said something was hip - hop back in the day, all these rappers spoke for us to those who where listening. Love ya channel, keep up the reviews, one... PS. Check out this Brooklyn Rapper from the 90’s, Smoothe da Hustler, he had a hit song called “Hustlin”

You said you wanted to know what the vibe was like..... use your imagination... 1993...... No cell phones.. Beepers only .... cell phones if you was balling... The whips of choice... MPV vans.... 1993 Acura Legend.... European license plates.... Wrangler Jeep's rimmed up 3. BMWs benz's the usual... BBS rims.... Still at the height of the crack era... Ain't no money like crack money..... back when some blocks would make a million a week... .. Fashion to you.. 40 below Timberlands... Construction Timberlands... Beef and broccoli Timberlands... All kinds of Timberland... the clothes baggy.. to concealed weapons. army fatigue shorts pants Field Jackets... really thick heavy leather jackets with big pockets... gold fronts in your mouth I prefer the bottoms not tops... a lot of really big jewelry... No cameras.. could get away with damn near anything... no internet so you heard your music to mixtapes that were done by a DJ.. Kid Capri was one of them..... if you was a rapper you had to either battle to get nose Pokemon shows and be heard.. No internet a s*** was very very real... so in this song right here drop when this album dropped it was crazy because it was nine of them..... the first group of the Staten Island to really blow up cuz they didn't have strong representation before. When did she drop she went crazy... That's all you heard blasting out of the cars
