I always want RZA interviews to last longer. Great questions and conversation

When RZA says Bong Bong, does anyone know why? It just occurred to me that it feels like a bell, one of those big bells at the churches, which is really the closest analogy I know to the experience of our inner self, when we're in mind-body-spirit balance. That would be crazy if RZA was attempting to awaken the full self in his conversation partners each time he says "bong bong" lol. But honestly if that's the case I would love that!

Good question. Alright you sent me on a google search. He apparently uses it when he wants to emphasize something. But I’ve also heard him use it in approval. In this, he used it in his greeting. It’s a multipurpose situation. He said he’s been trying to make it catch on for years. But it’s so non specific people don’t know how to use it.

@@tiffanyh1274 I will use it going forward. He can add +1 to his tally. Thanks for the help!

The music is competently composed, and the talent is clearly there. But I can't help but wondering if RZA's name wasn't attached to the compositions, would fans be as enthralled? I mean, where is the experimentation? Where is the artist's stamp? Like Andre's flute project, there is nothing special about these works, sadly. (And, to be clear, I'm not thinking rap amalgamations, necessarily.)

It is a celebration of the freedom of the cultural icons. Freedom to remove themselves from the genre that birthed them, and to go into something different. I know I love the feeling of beginning something new, and I'm pretty sure these projects are the same for them. Check out the doc on Bobby McFerrin always starting something different after a project is succesful, it's actually quite funny how much he loves to surprise and disappoint. #trueartistry

I remember in 95', there was a small club in stapleton. Rza got on the turn tables and played the imperial march from Star Wars. I was blown away. The brother used to always ask, "Are you balanced that remains with me to this day.

It’s a new endeavour, gotta crawl before you walk, experimentation comes later. Rza’s first hip hop project was nowhere near to what became bobby digital

Ok, if we want to do this right and actually progress art music, we need a reexamination of Bach and pick up where he left off with the overtone series. There are other things that need to be tackled as well, but you need to pay and credit me for those.
