watching the point at 10-10 drained my will to live

Magratheazaphod I understand why North American Ultimate plays with observers, at least I think I do. But this is type of a game/situation will be a reoccurring problem. Players who get used to having their disputes solved for them become increasingly poor at actually solving disputes. I wonder if more fouls get called when observers are in use, because you can call more questionable fouls and then just place the blame on the observer if they uphold your call. Someone wrote in an article for SKYD magazine that they would rather hate the observer than an opponent. That just sounds horrible to me. I mean, I understand what his intention with the comment may have been .. but I simply do not agree.

@@kgblenin The empirical results over the last four years have shown that it's not the American players who seem most prone to questionable game-saving calls in late/tight situations in major international events. Being able to appeal disputed calls to a neutral third party has not eroded spirit in North America; it has reinforced it.

Isn't it kind of a weak call from Beau at 18:00 ?

Eziaj "In blunt terms, how can you trust me if I know I can’t trust myself to make the right call because I can’t see everything that occurred." I am not sure what to think about a comment like that. Perhaps players should trust what the opposing players says. Especially since Beau says he at times does similar things. Plus, it is his responsibility to keep track of where the offensive player is. He basically says that he runs into him cause he is only looking at the disc and sacrificing his field awareness. By running into the offensive player Beau is initiating contact and is the person guilty of committing the foul.

+Kevin Groulx I thought so. The receiver slows down to let the disc go over, to keep the defender off it, and then accelerates to catch it. I thought it was a perfect box out. I think fouls occur when a) a player initiates contact, and b) it affects the other players ability to make a play. Who initiated contact? The receiver slowing down? Or the defender who ran into him? I'd say the defender.
