Unlike D4 which is just easy mode even on the most difficult setting. I just hope POE2 can maintain that pace throughout the game, while keeping a good balance of risk vs reward, adding atmosphere, immersion, etc.. I don't see how people can enjoy 'blasting' in god-mode, destroying rooms full of mobs in colorful explosions so fast you don't even need to have monster animations. Slower is more fun.

@steel58972 күн бұрын
I'm gonna tell you a secret so you can prepare for what's coming and maybe laugh a bit at it instead of being surprised. The part of the playerbase that will have the most trouble with PoE2's difficulty and "git gud" design is NOT the newbies coming over to play PoE for the first time, it will be from the veteran PoE1 playerbase who has mostly only played PoE1 and have no real experience with any action game. Newcomers will actually, on average, statistically have more experience with action games, and a higher tolerance for mechanical challenge, than your average RF player on the PoE subreddit. That part of the playerbase will be the most vocal BY FAR in crying about the difficulty. Keep in mind, Elden Ring sold 25 million copies, it's a massive success. The mainstream RPG audience has considerably more thirst for combat difficulty than a good chunk of the PoE1 playerbase, who is not used to action games and generally use build guides so that the game plays itself and enemies die before they even act, that won't work in PoE2. So yeah keep this in mind, it's gonna get really funny.

@AverageTESEnjoyer57838 сағат бұрын
So what is your solution? Skip the campaign entirely? It's not that they aren't learning. They want the added context and progression a campaign adds to the experience. D4 is just not up there in any way apart from looking good and smooth gameplay, specially after the expansion.

Just like Final Fantasy 14 has "WoW Refugees", PoE 2 will likely have a good deal of D4 Refugees. The people who think this will end D4, or even take a significant chunk of the playerbase away are deluding themselves however. Like it or not, the casual accessibility is a huge strength that ensures tonnes of people will keep coming back to D4 and the devs know this. I just hope it doesn't make them complacent, and that GGG does all that it can to give Blizzard some major competition to force them out of their complacency. Looking forward to enjoying both games myself, but I won't lie - I would love to see D4's numbers nosedive worse than S1/3 - MUCH worse, to the point where they feel scared and compelled to finally add the depth and complexity we've been starving for.

My advice for new players is to use the mechanics like crafting early and just figure out what they do and get used to using them. It’s not as complicated as it looks on the surface and crafting is a very good way at getting decent gear. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of defensive nodes (life & resistances) in the passive tree so make sure you’re getting these options on your gear! Get close to cap 75% resistances on your gear and just take life on gear when you can until you get a feel for where you can get your big power spikes (example weapon). Once you figure out what your main damage skills are going to be goto the massive passive tree and search things that boost that attack and rush to those nodes. That’s not to say you shouldn’t take defense from the passive tree but I’d make sure you get the damage first then get defenses from gear first. As a baseline I think this philosophy will do good for you and it will be easy enough to adjust when needed. Goodluck everyone!

I think something to keep in mind with poe2 is that if you are stuck on a particular boss, you can always go back and explore a zone to get more exp or find rare chest with better gear. Lesser experienced or less skilled players will be rewarded for doing casual slow crawl full level play throughs with tools that should increase there power/ make bosses easier to tackle. If you get stuck there are ways to grow and increase your power

Well, look, you don't understand anything about the game, and you already think that it should be changed to your taste. Of course, the attitude towards such a newcomer will be negative. You don't go to someone else's monastery with your own charter. The campaign has its own goal, which it fulfills. But, in my opinion, it could be made to skip it for the second and further characters in the league. I play according to the principle of 1 character per 1 league and I don't feel uncomfortable, but for those who do several, the campaign can interfere more.

we'll see. ppl always say they want X, and then when they get it, they say "this isn't what I wanted" and original D4 release proves that. D4 on launch was a slow, grindy game with very powerful loot that was extremely rare to find. you'd play for hours and hours and not find a single unique. that's what people said they wanted -- a game similar to D2, where you just farm the same mobs / areas / bosses over and over, looking for extremely rare loot and hoping you get lucky 1 out of hundreds of times. and the game was received poorly. people HATED IT. and now, after 15+ months of iteration, we have the D4 of today, which is much faster and MUCH less challenging. nothing is difficult in the game anymore, not even the "raid" the Dark Citadel. it's all stupidly easy. but it wasn't always like this. on launch, D4 enemies had insane amount of CC that needed to be avoided, and you couldn't just play Spiritborn with 100% uptime on unstoppable. you had to dodge every enemy CC, go slowly, kill one pack at a time, and pay close attention during combat. and 15+ months later, the game is nothing like that anymore, because people didn't like it and wanted the game changed. Remember Raxx's video ranting about HOW MUCH he hates CC in Diablo 4? and how he begged Blizzard for MONTHS in his videos to nerf enemy CC? which Blizz eventually did my point is, ppl say they want a complex, slow, difficult game with poe2, but once they get what they SAY they want, will it turn out to be what they ACTUALLY want, or will they clamor for big changes, like speeding up the game, increasing loot drops, reducing enemy CC, etc? only time will tell
