I had a switch lite for 2.5 weeks and I take care of my stuff. I got joy con drift after about 20hrs of play. It got worse the last 3 days I owned it. I decided to take it back and just dish out the extra for a normal switch. If Nintendo were to release a switch lite with upgraded joy cons I would deff go for it

It does, I would never be able to bring that bigass console outside. I even worried about bringing my ds out with me when I was younger. A normal switch would never fit in a normal-sized bag, it's too inconvenient and bulky. However, I would CONSIDER to bring with me my switch lite... but would probably just play at home.

That manual brightness setting is actually a selling point for me. My devices are always set to the dimmest possible setting because that white light can trigger pretty violent migraines for me. Even just a few seconds of exposure have been enough to land me in pain for days. Given my light sensitivity I’m not usually anywhere I’d need to turn up the brightness, if I am I have huge sunglasses on and staring at a screen isn’t even possible. I know I’m the minority here, but this is a minor feature that will mean a lot to those that actually need it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm very happy with my switch lite. I didn't see any point in getting the regular switch because my home tv setup is shit. To play any console games with that tv I have to sit like 3 feet in front of it to see anything because its small and outdated. Plus, I really do prefer to play handheld in general, because if im gonna play games I wanna do so while on the toilet, on the go, or lounging on my bed. I prefer the simplicity of just having a handheld device. I don't care about extra features, or sharing, just want to play my damn games. The switch is also presumably better for handheld comfort, though I'm still waiting for my grip case to come in since I did get some cramping while playing Smash. Lower price was also great selling point. Basically, the switch lite is for cheap lazy introverts like me who prefer comfort and simplicity over versatility or sharing.

@@KaoMarMar There's a few games that aren't compatible with the switch lite. Only a few and they weren't games I was interested in anyway. Its a matter of joy-con dependent games just being really impractible. But even then, you can technically connect a pair of joy-cons to the switch lite and play the the game anyway but its gonna ruin the gaming experience (might be tolerable if you rig a tv setup to record your screen through a camera, but in that case why did you even get a lite?) But who knows, maybe someday nintendo might release something incompatible with the switch lite that actually intrests me. And then I can rightfully be mad at myself. Or just rig it, lol.

The system is flawed, eventually the joysticks will wear and tear. The 3DS doesn't have this issue. It's much easier to replace the joycon on the OG Switch, with the lite, you need to open it up, which will probably cause a multitude of failures.

I agree with this. Nintendo clearly went for one system for portable and TV gaming, but then broke off of that by releasing a handheld only version, which kind of defeats the original concept. Apparently market research shows that at least a significant amount of users were not quite happy enough with the portability of the original, and thus the Lite was created. Would it have made more sense to do a simultaneous launch of two separate products instead of one, like PS Vita and PS Vita TV to basically serve both purposes individually? Maybe so, but I'm not sure if Vita TV was too succesful, though it might have to do with the touch screen usage in many games. Nintendo could have avoided that at least. Anyway, I own the original Nintendo Switch and I can say for sure that I will not be investing into a separate Switch Lite for handheld gaming, the original works for me just fine. In fact, I do not have perfect vision and in at least Diablo 3 I've noticed that I have a really hard time reading certain blue texts on the Switch screen, so I can only imagine how hard it would be for me from an even smaller screen. Now, if my wife also wanted to own a Switch, that would be a completely different subject, and in that case it would most likely be the Lite version.

@@mysteriontheguardianangel8859 you have drift issues with both of them yeah the regular one you can buy a new joycon or you can just buy a replacement joystick, yeah you don't have the option to buy a new joycon but it's really not that hard to replace to joystick in the lite. It's harder to replace it in a joycon than it is the lite, and the joystick are cheaper than buying a joycon.

I got a Switch Lite, my first Nintendo console since the original 3DS, and I absolutely love it! It feels comfortable, video quality is good, the games are super fun, especially the classic NES and SNES games you get for free with Switch Online. If you want a handheld with good triple A titles it's for you, I originally just got mine for Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild, and Pokemon Sword but I'm gladly going to keep using Switch online and playing my Switch.

I got one and then my left joystick started drifting three weeks later. However I just blew some air on it and then it got fixed. Apparantly most of the drifting is caused by dirt getting were it shouldnt. You can also find replacements for 10 bucks. Changing the joystick might be a bit of a pain but anyone can do it.

I have yet to encounter an auto-brightness feature that is more useful than annoying. It usually goes way too bright or way too dark for my comfort. I prefer to switch it off, set it once manually when I start using a device, and then have a blissfully consistent backlight until the light conditions change. :)

i've already had to exchange my switch lite at walmart for a new one after 7 days because of joy-con drift. but atleast i got the pleasure of opening up another switch lite. lets hope i can have this one longer then 7 days before it drifts again. nintendo is only hurting themselfs at this rate. they can have the broken lite that i had and ill freely take a new one. :)

Love the jab at the not having auto brightness and the blinding especially since I just put giant bright spot lights on my truck that can blind my neighbors across the street if I accidentally turned them on. Also love that you imposed the humming of an H ID lamp ballast into the audio.

I loved the switch lite at first. Then I tried playing smm2 with the dpad and it gave me such a cramp in my thumb. I had to return it and get the updated original switch and compared to my original switch the battery is very noticeably better.

I have the same problems. True, as a portable only device, the Switch Lite is super good. The only thing that bothers me is the cloud save data which is really important. A perfect example I can give is Animal Crossing. I have both a regular switch and a switch light and I thought I would share the same save file with cloud, turn out that game doesn’t have a cloud save so now I have 2 different save files with different progression on both and it makes me not want to play the game at all. Besides that, is not a bad idea to have only the switch lite. It is a bad idea to own both switches.
