It's not that kazus comfortable with s4w, it requires less movement for the tetriminos because with c4w, you have to keep moving left and right to place the pieces whereas with s4w you can just finesse and build faster.

Perfect clear sends 10 lines, regardless of the combo. Perfect Clears do not stack on combos, it is always a 10 line send. Wumbo blocked with 5 lines from his 11+ combo. Therefore, he blocked some of the incoming damage and only received 5 lines instead of a 10 line burst from the Perfect Clear. :)

sorry for my bad english. Wumbo was doing 4-wide, he made a deadly weak spot and Kazu used it to defeat him in the reset round (and won 8 rounds in the first battle in this grand final). The weak spot is when another player attacks by quick attack, but deals a huge damage (t-spin, perfect clear,...), 4-wide player might in a dead end (must survive after the opponent quick attack end to continue the battle) Great timing helped Wumbo a lot, especially in the final round in the first battle. After all, they did great.

No you're wrong, Kazu is the much better player here. He seldom plays s4w, that is simply used to handle c4w which is the common flaw of modern tetris games. After the opening, basically Kazu can win 90% of midgames by b2b.

In Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 and 2, and the deprecated Tetris Friends, yes, but some good players with class (anyone who isn't Wumbo) agree to not use Center 4-Wide. In Tetris Effect Connected, and most Tetris fangames, the combo tables are nerfed, so 4 wide is way less effective.

its underatandable why wumbo forced 4-wide. Really, he had no choice. Kazu Its basically a machine back to back perfect gameplay, one step back or missdrop and you are dead, gotta be perfectly consistent an more to beat kazu. Thats how Doremy kinda got shut. Wumbo tried 4-wide which is a good choice since going for back to back aganist kazu is just insta-loss. But 4-wide is still not enough for the machine since it takes so long to downstack the 4-wide that kazu can follow with back-backs and prevent himself from getting spiked, feels bad. But i got an hipothesis, i feel like the game is holding back the players actual potential. If you see kazu kinda reached the peak of ppt limit, the lag between the pieces sorta limits how fast they can go, so wumbo cant even go god mode to try and turn the tables, because ppt applies lag to the next piece and a massive lag when clearing line. For real now the lag when clearing singles on ppt its absurdly long, its enough to step you back so much when aganist top tier players. I Think there should be considered leaving ppt behing and go for engines which do not limit the top speed of players Look Tetri.io as example, clearing lines is instant and next piece is also instant so it doesnt hold back if any of them going god mode to try and turn the tables and win! Wumbo could stack down his 4-wides into an spike capable of beating kazu back-to-back machine, on tense moments it would be possible to clutch because clearing singles wont take ages, downstacking would be more of an realiable technique instead of impossible and bordeline failure.

You are just yet another clueless player / commentator. The latency of ppt line clear takes relatively longer than other tetris games for a reason: b2b is much difficult than combo. ppt is designed for players who can think out efficient piece placement instead of fast piece placement, the former counts on brain, the latter counts on finger. wumbo simply CANT be as efficient as kazu or even other elite players. In tetrio.io, you don't have to be efficient, perfect, machine like, you just have to be fast. Same can be applied to TOP and some dead games like tetris friends and tetris battle. You are so naive I am not surprised you are a fan of wumbo.

@@yenihayatisland I agree with the whole PPT is more of an efficiency game than tetr.io, but saying that tetr.io is all speed is really wrong. Dont call others clueless when you also dont see the full picture. In every modern tetris game, efficiency plays a huge role. Qmk is arguably the most efficient player since he's one of the slowest top players (both on tetr.io and jstris) yet he's one of the best. (that guy beated Diao in a tournament, Diao is considered to be just as good as Firestorm, sometimes better) Downstacking is super important in games like tetr.io, mastering those is just as hard as mastering efficiency. Speed is important in games like tetr.io or jstris, but its not all that matters. There are a handful of S ranked players who can play at ~2pps while there are a handful of U-X ranked players who also play at ~2pps. The only reason why the U-X ranks are so much better even at the same speed is because of efficiency and their timing. I've literally seen X ranked players play at an average of 1.8pps The only gamemode of tetris that is all speed is 40L sprint, literally everything else requires a huge amount of game sense, efficiency, foresight and timing

All modern tetris games that are based on tspin and tetris need efficiency besides speed, since it's the most efficient to generate garbage lines. There's been a long history of people knowing about apm and tpm and pursuing them. But you mentioned the player qmk when the topic is about efficiency, that makes me start to wonder, because qmk is widely known for his defensive style, that is far away from efficiency. He spends a lot of thinking time getting out of bad situation. There is not much fancy b2b observed from his gameplay, if my memory is correct. So I watched a few qmk's tetris.io games. My conclusion is: the way qmk plays just proves my point. He is not going to survive ppt, because the line clear latency takes long in ppt, so his defensive rens won't work. The long line clear latency of ppt is meant to emphasize on efficiency. Moreover, the reason why qmk 's apm is close to other elite players is, tetris.io , again, like top/tetris friends/tetris battle, allow players to quickly ren not only to escape from bad situation but also generate lots of garbage lines by combo. You think qmk is efficient in tetr.io but that kind of "efficiency" from line clear can't be applied to ppt. If you have no idea what I am talking about, try a game that is not so popular now: top (tetris online poland). In top, you can be quite "efficient" if you just play combo all the time (even 3w). Of course b2b is still the better option for high apm but combo is not bad at all in top. Moreover, if your opponent is a b2b player, you will be happily use his garbage lines (very clean) to counterattack. tetr.io rewards combo even more so I think ren in tetr.io can achieve even higher apm.
