Wupatki National Monument

The Wupatki National Monument is a uniquely peaceful experience. Located about 30 NE from Flagstaff, Arizona. It's set up as a walking tour with markers that provide information about each ruin. I spent a quiet day visiting each site. It was well worth my time.

No one really knows who built this place, but it's precision and original grandeur, is equivalent to that of Chaco Canyon. It isn't the work of the Grand Canyon cliff dwellers, and it would appear to me, that it was not intended for every day citizens. It appears to be a Palace, or place of power and public address. This looks like the work of the evil Anasazi, that the ancient Pueblo, were glad to be rid of. The timeline fits, if the dates of this site are accurate. This is a megalithic structure. Wupatki is a certified beast, of a ruin. It would have knocked your socks off, back in the day, but it wasn't a good time for anyone, but the Anasazi. Navajo tradition says the these places were deliberately destroyed, by the remaining tribes, after the Anasazi were driven out. Breaking and burning, anything associated with the Anasazi people. The condition of these massive structures, is congruent with the Navajo Oral traditions. Wind and rain didn't demolish that place, in such short order.

You're mispronouncing the name. It's not WuPaki, it's WuPOTki.

@@stringdoc The Ranger at the Wupatki Monument said the "t" falls silent and doesn't get pronounced. About 6 months ago, Tribal Elders had approached the National Parks Dept, with the correct pronunciation. That's why I pronounced it the way I did. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
