burdie is 100% right about the strict parents. my dad is one of them and i’m truely think that he manipulated me or convinced me that the only way that i was going to have the future that i wanted was to go to pharmacy school, waste 4 years of my life suffering with a deep depression and loneliness (since i struggle with making friends), and then come out making $100k+. sounds great financially, but for my mental health? that’s a hard no. Anyone reading this and if you’re still in high school, my advice is; find out your passion and stick with it. Make it something you’ll be happy doing for the rest of your life, because if not, you’ll be like me and depressed, anxious, and regretting ever going in to the wrong program.

But when I got into my junior year of high school, they started to become more chill. Its totally fine if parents are strict with very young children, i'd even say this is what they need because lets face it, children are stupid. We all were stupid at that age. But if you get older, especially at your teenage phase, you need to have for freedom. You need room to try things out and to make mistakes, thats what this phase is for. To be honest I think I have the most balanced parents. I’m currently 14 years old and I’m going to tell you about them.
