Kudos to her for getting Arts established within her 3 year term. Three years it's not a long time, they should at least given her a 5 year term. The first year in half is the previous dean agenda being established. But I'm glad she got some thing done and increased funding.

@roxybryant50767 ай бұрын
@@yourstruly_777 Phylicia Rashad is now retiring from being dean of fine arts at Howard University. She says it is time for her to retire and that she came back to Howard a few years ago to oversee the reopening of the fine arts school which apparently was shuttered. She says now that she has a good faculty in place, a good plan for the school she feels safe leaving it in the hands of the faculty she hand picked, and she also did a good bit of fundraising ensuring some endowments that will last for several years.
@amandabrown55557 ай бұрын
Many years ago the Fine Arts program was merged with Social Sciences to consolidate resources, inc leadership & funding. However Fine Arts has always been a rich, unique highlight of Howard legacy (Debbie Allen, Ruby Dee, Taraji P., Chadwick) - deserving of its own focus & support. Dean Rashad made it happen.

Ms. Rashad is an intelligent and dignified woman. She carries herself as all women of color should. She does well with any endeavour. Her parents and their parents went through a great deal to raise the children and survive daily. In this interview her Key words, "a mother/father who INSISTS that you live to YOUR full Potential." So many people of color have given up and thus do not excel to their full potential.
