There's an irony in the name. Sanda (散打)can be interpreted as "scattered hitting", but these fighters execute some of the most precise hits I've seen in any combat sports! They're far from "scattered". And they do it with both enough power to K.O. the opponent and enough stability that they never need to stagger, tussle or hop around. Kudos to whoever refined their training method ! :) (I know I know, the more appropriate interpretation of the name is "amorphous fighting".)

@maxk880 Жыл бұрын
Well there is less punching KOs because your head is protected for most competitions. The protector is good enough to block most non-face KOs, but a hard kick to the head won't get protected. Sanda was originally developed by the Chinese military (starting in the 1920s) as hand-to-hand combat training for their soldiers. So yeah, if a moves allows one to efficiently kill the enemy in battle, it's included. The sports version has been tweaked to make it safer and more audience-friendly, but ... I guess it's still a generally war-oriented fighting sport. Hence the pile-driver and stuff.

I think it’s illegal now. Read in the rulebook that you’re not allowed to intentionally slam someone on their head.
