Dude is trying to convice us that RAM affects the frame rate, while yes, it might affect the frame rate a tiny bit (depending on the game and the amount of RAM you've got) but the difference here is clearly the graphics and not showing the *ACTUAL* difference between 8gb and 16gb RAM because honestly, that's probably not the easiest thing to do. What he probably did is: he lowered the graphics to get it to look like the RAM usage is around 6/7gb, while also obviously increasing the FPS. And vice versa for 16gb, raising the graphics to look like 16gb lowers the frame rate. 🤦‍♀

The reason why it’s possible to run better graphics with more ram is due to a function called “shared video memory” where windows automatically allocates up to half of ur system RAM for ur GPU to use in case it runs out of VRAM space.

I bought a 1070 in 2017 with 8gb ram and was playing vr kart Kraft and was struggling big time. Upgraded to 32gb and it has played excellent ever since. Never tried it with 1 16gb in though. I'm more than happy with the 1070 and 32gb, although I could upgrade. Mines a hp omen laptop.

As we can see at the top that the vram usage in both the scenes are same and the GPU frequency aswell. We can also see that the cpu usage and frequency are the same. The the main difference can be seen in the cpu power consumption and temps. This gives us a conclusion that the admin is playing the game with the same settings. Now having more RAM actually reduces the load on the cpu and gives better results in the visuals in the same settings. Om the left, the RAM usage is less and the cpu temps are high, but on the right, it's the opposite. The admin is not misleading guys. You just need more knowledge about PCs.

this is NOT the difference between 8gb and 16gb, as a lowend user i can say that the graphics card , or better, the lack of one can EXTREMELY cause an impact in performance. also, with such low ram and if we assume the cpu and gpu are good ones, the system would bootleneck like crazy making it a slow and laggy, even one component that can't keep up with other components can cause a bottleneck. also, beamng's minimum requirements are 16 gb so with 8 gb you get 6 fps and with 16gb you get 12 fps and with 22gb (my laptop came with that amount of ram, don't ask) i get 16 fps because of the lack of a gpu. this guy most likely has a great system and he simply lowered the graphics and added an fps limit.
