This is a magnificent Performance. Outstanding, if I may say so. I don't think I've ever heard this piece played any better than this. My dad who was a classical musician, played many instruments but never the french horn. I know he is sorry he never leard to play the french horn because he told me so on several occasions. Thanks to my dad I came to love this instrument and all classical music. Well most classical music. He is now 88 and still plays piano and organ. How nice is that. Anyways thank you so much for uploading this fantastic performance.

The horn is probably the most tricky instrument to play and that performance was incredible. The clarity of sound, the register breaks, the trills were as close to perfection as humanly possible.

Tis the moment between the last sunlight on Autumn leaf,. and the budding of of the new green tips that music exists as a hope, and the glorious moment between the unfurling of the sails and the winds they are caressed by, o'er the mountains, through the forests of new and old, charred and freshly sprouted... fields of gold, lagoons of emerald green... each note a thousand miles, each pause a night of a thousand stars, each star the rest and each sunrise the upbeat... for that which comes next. Keep moving...it's worth it.

I'm 51. I remember seeing your name some 30 years ago, so I'm finding this to be a real treat. I've only seen Barry Tuckwell, Hermann Baumann, and Jerome Ashby perform this live, each was extraordinary, and I feel the same way about yours, it was beautiful. I always felt Baumann and Ashby gave this piece the utmost respect, as opposed to Tuckwell who was quite aggressive - it certainly was not an endurance run but it was his style. I only mention this because the way you exited the cadenza at 18:25 had the same kind of power and force Tuckwell played the entire time. I appreciate your variance. In the early 90s, I had favorites, today I appreciate the diversity of styles, but I wish we had more live recordings without all the spot mics that make things sound slightly unnatural. I'm glad you kept playing, this made my day. Again, it was beautiful.

Everything I heard Tuckwell do was, in my opinion, too aggressive, too bombastic. Great technique, though!

WOW, I’ve never heard a style mirror so closely and intimately with the string as this one!!! My mind is absolutely blown that musicianship of this caliber is possible. Everything is absolute perfection. So much to be said here. Absolutely incredible. SO many will try to become better musicians, but will never get there because their minds are so limited. Yours goes way beyond everybody else’s and far surpasses them. I can only think of a handful of musicals at this level. Truly wonderful, but even that phrase doesn’t do it justice. Bravo.

I've always said music and aviation go together. Music teaches the brain to work logically, and of course, you have to be a few notes ahead. Same in aviation, especially in IMC. You have to picture your instruments to form a 3D picture of your situation relative to the earth. You have to be ahead of the game, and music teaches that.
