WVON...VOICE OF THE NEGRO! I Remember thst Jingle as a Young Child in the 60's, WVON was the King of R&B Radio in Chicago, it had its Rival R&B AM Station WGRT 950 AM, but WGRT had a 6pm Curfew because what I heard later that WGRT & Later it's Replacement R&B Station, WJPC had to follow the FCC Rules to End Programming at 6pm because it Bumped Heads with then CBS Owned (Now Audacy Owned) WWJ 950 at Nighttime. WVON didn't have Restrictions & was the King of R&B Radio in Chicago from 63 to the Early 70's. WGRT, Later WJPC was the 2nd Banana R&B Station for Chicago until the FM R&B Stations Dusted WVON & WJPC in the Ratings.
