WVU GBB Coach shows great sportsmanship

West Virginia was leading Villanova 73-67 with 7.9 seconds remaining in overtime on Sunday in a WNIT quarterfinal. And then something awesome happened.
Knowing that Wildcats senior Emily Leer had 999 career points, Mountaineers coach Mike Carey told his players to intentionally foul her so she could get to the free throw line. She managed to hit one of her two attempts and officially joined the 1,000-point club. West Virginia emerged victorious, 75-70, but sportsmanship was clearly the day's real winner.

That isnt sportsmanship. Sportsmanship would be intentionally missing the shots since you knew it was a b.s.set up foul. Women doing this only emphasizes the differences. Imagine a team letting Michael Jordan have an extra free-throw so he could beat the points per game record or screen record for the year whatever or a hockey team letting Gretzky just have a free break away so it’s good score a goal it’s just nonsense. If the record was so critical, her own team should’ve insured that she broke the record early in the game or even at the end of the year. It’s not appropriate for the other team to help her score points.
