I have to confess that this old fool shed a tear as the piece came together. When you started with the tree in full health I did think it would be out of place in a diorama of this nature, as trees in the landscape looked more like distorted fingers rising from the ground. I can't thank you enough for sharing your art with us, and your ability to weave such a poignant story is incredible. Thank you.

As a Combat Infantryman from Desert Shield/Storm this really touched me. Once I realized what the looking glass was for it saddened me tremendously. This is the most poignant diorama I have ever seen. Man's inhumanity to his fellow man is one of the greatest tragedies, if not THE greatest ever. If you have been in combat, you understand firsthand. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT THOMAS! Hopefully, I'll be starting making these soon and you are a big influence on that. Beside the fact, that this is a brilliant work of art with a deep meaning in it, I like most, that a diorama is the best (if not the only) way to realize this idea. The moment I clocked the soldier with the shovel wasn’t even glancing at the bloke he was trying to off, right after you finished printing it, I knew something was fishy and that I’d be in for a right treat. Cool pt 2! WOW! Love the juxtaposition. When I was bored at work sometimes I used to make "trees" out of 25pr Telecom wire, I never got so detailed with clay etc. I just wrapped the trunk w more wire. I especially like the concertina wire detail. Awesome piece!

Lovely work one small historical note. German barbed wire was supported by large wooden X shapes early in the war and by the time the tanks were deployed the Germans had moved to using iron rods with an eyelet at the top to loop the wire around. the introduction of the latter being one of the reasons British artillery couldn't clear barbed wire at the Somme. Of course I'm sure there were places on the Western Front where they had to improvise.

If you took away all the figures and the tank and just had the tree in the centre it would have been an amazing scene, but to watch you go though the process of building step by step, then the moment you turned the light on, on the looking glass, i think i said something like Oh!. Le contraste entre le champs des enfants et celui du champs de bataille est saisissant et le regard étonné du soldat qui voit les enfants le regarder paisiblement, c'est incroyable, tu arrives toujours à nous étonné par les compositions de tes diorama. Encore une masterclass de ta part et bien sûr la réalisation de l'arbre est parfaite. Bravo. Qui est le plus surpris ? Le soldat ou les enfants ?

Guten Abend Thomas. Ein wunderschönes Diorama was einen wieder berührt und zum Nachdenken anregt.. So dämlich wie das klingt, ich bin froh das ich nie einen Krieg mit machen musste und der 1. Weltkrieg war grausam.. Und weil du letztens meintest,, Brücke von Remagen, daß ich schon so lange dabei bin.. Das hat mich begeistert, und dann war ganz zu Anfang irgendwie 😊irgendwann das Diorama vom Univermag in Stalingrad,, da hast du ebenfalls so eine 2 Seiten Sache gebaut.. Einfach Klasse.
