As a former member of I.R. 92, it's great to see the regiment still in tact, and carrying the fight to the tommies, frogs and yanks!

why does the MG-08 (timestamp 6:51) have the fire rate of an MG42? I'd love to know if that was just a slight inaccuracy or if there was a mod on WW1 machine guns that ramped up the fire rate. MG-O8's generally had around 600 RPM. The one in the video is firing 800-900 Edit: i think thats an american version of the '08 but pretty much the same thing
@TheFlamethrowerExperts Жыл бұрын
It was a browning m1917, shooting wood tipped blank in a weird caliber because the owner has pallets of them. They shot hot which increased the rof.
@Hankeshon Жыл бұрын
woah, great to know! I actually did some research after i commented and the browning m1917 has a pretty high fire rate for a World War 1 HMG. Thanks for the info :) @@TheFlamethrowerExperts

There is an overarching and disproportionate element of narcissism prevalent among re-enactors . They spend a great deal of time and money trying to pretend they are something they are not ; real soldiers. Very few of them have any actual military service , and in over thirty years of being around them , I have met a grand total of two who have actually been on combat. I have privately shared these thoughts with those two , and they are in agreement. Essentially , re-enactors want to dress up and act like men , without the risks of being men. For these exhibitionists, dressing up in the costume of the past, treated as a fetish, and posturing and parading as part of the masquerade provides the pleasure of pretense, which is all it is, although the performance undoubtedly has the psycho-therapeutic effect of serving to ease the feeling of inadequacy in its performers, in a manner akin to the savage who dons the skin of a lion as a mantle in the belief that he will thereby become invested with the strength and courage of the king of the jungle.

I mean thats your opinion. I am still active duty, know plenty who have served in combat. Theres alot of clowns but at its the center of it, its people who love history a who want something more than reading about history.

If you were a native of north America, you would go by the name "Likes to speak with an embellished tongue", meaning: Come to the point, dude! Why give us this free psychology lecture in the first place? People do this because they feel drawn to one particular period in history. It's not about "playing soldiers". Ever come across the theory of re-incarnation? You don't have to have a military career to do this kind of stuff. Maybe, in a previous life, some of us experienced this and just aren't done with it yet. Who knows. Don't over-analyze everthing and just take it for what it is.
