The significance of America's contribution during WW1 is something of a debated topic, especially if you look at Germany's homefront in 1918. While the Best-Litovsk Treaty secured the Central Powers' Eastern Front, this only managed to secure troops for the German offensive on the Western Front. However, with the failure of that offensive, the War had all but been decided, with the German homefront incapable of meeting the demands of the War. One of the things often overlooked is that American commanders had learned nothing from observation of the War itself. The Americans often launched offensives with outdated tactics that had been long abandoned by the other European combatants. Many of the American offensives were completely ineffective at achieving any sort of goal. The main contribution of America was morale and fresh troops. Their fighting prowess was not really a factor during the war. Instead it should be noted that America contributed as a neutral nation for much of the War in terms of food and military material. To consider the American contribution insignificant, is utter folly, but to also consider it the greatest thing ever, is also folly.

Yeah, I hate how they always act like they came in, during both wars and saved everyone's asses. They weren't even in this war until the last year of it and didn't fight until the last 100 days, and the only reason they joined was because a German U-Boat accidentally mistook one of their ships for a British ship. Before that they sold bullets to both sides... made with Canadian mined nickel. Our guys, who did real work the whole war, were shot with bullets, coated in nickel that we mining. Damn Americans.

In the Battle of Hamel, Monash demonstrated that the protection of human life was not only justified on humanist grounds, it also was a legitimate war strategy. Hamel was a strongly fortified German defence position, which protected the area between the Villers Bretonneux Heights and the Somme River. Monash horrified both the American and British high command by proposing a strategy that involved throwing heavy war machinery into enemy territory where it could potentially be lost. Monash proposed that armoured tanks would support infantry in the advance, and in turn, both troops and tanks would be supported by advancing artillery from behind. As the troops took ground, aerial drops ensured they would be resupplied with medical equipment and ammunition. From the perspective of the traditional war orthodoxy, it was sheer madness. If the attack failed, the aircraft would simply be supplying German positions and a German counter attack would take possession of allied machinery. General Pershing, the American Commander in Chief, argued against American participation in the offensive, but Monash simply ignored his objections.

Actually there's one bullcrap thing here, the hellfighters, or the real name, the harlem hellfighters was an only black soldier unit, but the thing is that they fought in the FRENCH arme, because of the segregation and the racism at the Time in the US, they were not autorized to fight in the US army. If it was me making this kind of mod, i would enable some infantry units to construct trenches on the battle field; kinda like how in Rome TW you can mine your way into the enemy walls. well generally speaking the first time tanks were actually used during WW1 was a total failure as infantry divisions failed to provide enough support to actually take the land cleared out by the tanks. in reality the only reason tanks were made were to provide decent enough armor to launch an assault on enemy trenches. afterwards the infantry would move up in order to clean up any survivors left over by tanks. also, early tanks used tractor engines.

Nice video Apollo. I don't think the path-finding bugs are from the mod alone. In Empire, if you blast some holes in the walls the A.I. will go spastic. Sometimes it'll form units into long columns or run soldiers around in circles. It would be kind of funny except the frame-rate drops so low that the camera moves faster than the cannon balls.

On the 4th July 1918, Australian and American troops under Monash's command took less than 92 minutes to kill 2,000 Germans, and capture 1,600 others. Australian casualties were fewer than 1,300 and the Americans were fewer than 176. Not only had a stalemate been broken, the allied forces had been given a massive moral boost. Americans had been initiated into the war with a victory and it had been shown that the days of trench warfare were coming to an end.

+Pixelated Apollo not sure if you are planning on making a new video for this mod but the trench-gunners are a unit that does a lot better if you use them as flanking unit because they use shotguns which can do damage/kill multiple until to make up for the slightly smaller unit but that also why every time you use the as in bayonet change the die quickly mainly because they don't actually have real hand to hand combat capabilities I just thought you should know because no offense but you really wasted a decently strong until and unjustly insult them (sorry I rant so much but it's been bugging me)

One tale of a Harlem Hell-fighter was if African American man (If you know his name please tell me it.) who served in ww1. During his service he and two other men were ambushed during the night by a platoon of German soldiers. This man shot until his rifle was out of bullets then he took to his bayonet, when his bayonet snapped he beat the rest of the men to death with the butt of his rifle. During this fight he's was shot seventeen times but only succumbed to his wounds when the platoon surrendered.

Yes, the Americans did have a significant role in the war, but the people who say that they won the whole thing are so wrong. The British, French, and Russians did most of the fighting. The Americans showed up late, but they turned the tide quickly and break the stalemate.

The hellfighters didn't fight under the flag of the US as the US army was ni a state of hard segregation at this time and didn't accept that black would be allowed to fight. I couldn't play the game at all. I know it's just a game but games like these should be realistic where the soldiers would fire their rifles in CQB instead of just using bayonets. I'd just get so frustrated at that.

I just have one question about this battle though Why not charge into the buildings and hold inside the fort, at least that would let you be able to get a foothold at least to fire at the enemy's lines, instead of charging straight into them while they open fire on you, Russians may have won many battles like that but this isn't irl and there isn't an almost endless supply of men the throw into a machine gun till it runs out of ammo or somebody gets lucky enough to shoot the gunner.

Dude u can make this battle en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Warsaw_(1920) In french units rooster u have some polish units like Blue Army. U can use Russia to, they have some polish units too.

i know you weren't being mean :P I just think African American is term that doesn't make sense. Africa is a land with many different races and cultures. What if a white person is born in south Africa and then moves to america? Are they African American? Or what if a Black person from Jamaica moves to america, are they African American? Honestly when I see an American who is black. I just call them American. Because in my eyes we are all just American. We are one. But I know many people will disagree with me, but that just how I look at it.

I studied WW1 quite alot and from the sources we were given in school indicated Americas contribution in the war effort was mainly economic their military contribution was token at best.

America would of probably withdrawn from Europe and would have withdrawn from the war if they declared war on Germany in 1914 and entered the Western front a lot earlier

Dude you need to have more troops if you have more heavy artillery than the wall would come down and if you try with all your waves at ounce it would work but charge with some Calvary first a lot of Calvary

so the story is the americans had just arrived in europes backlines when a scouting mission had discovered a secret german base. the othe countries forces were days away but the americans were next to the germans. the americans decided to attck the vital base
