Why on earth up here in Scotland you would camp anywhere near somewhere that could get you lifted is beyond insanity. We've access to the best wild camping in the UK and it's free, unrestricted and you'll never get any grief from anyone. This just seems deliberately antagonistic. Why would anyone want to wild camp next to a shitty gas plant patrolled by MOD when you've got the most beautiful forest's and mountains on your doorstep to camp in hassle free is mental.
@theinvisiblecamper10 ай бұрын
I take your point but - I was no where near the gas plant and was on pubic access land at all times, I am interested in history and wanted to see and stay in the WW2 bunker which I couldn't move to a different location. I camp all over Scotland year round and this is the only hassle I have had in many years - and the hassle was manly down to a police Scotland officer who appears to have got the wrong end of the stick - the MOD police were quite happy and were mildly interested why my car was where it was. I like to mix it up as far as my locations and have camped in plenty of forests and glens too - I will be paying more attention to where I park my vehicle in future though!

Scotland has some amazing long beaches, really good for touring with a fat bike. I stayed near there in the dunes on a tour a couple of years ago. Probably just far enough away - was not bothered. Car was in Inverbervie. They can be a bit arsey around Peterhead power station too. You dont need to be near strategic energy infrastructure to be hassled, during the photographer = terrorist paranoia of the 2000s, I had four home visits for photographing farmland. Was under orders to inform Police before taking any photographs of scenery. Aye right! Been quiet the past 10 years though.
@SnowyAspenHills10 ай бұрын
Seems like overzealous policing to me but these are uncertain times. If they went past your car several times and it was still there one can understand their concern not just because someone could be a potential terrorist but because the owner of the car was nowhere near it in the middle of the night. Cool to camp in the old pill box, ours look so inferior to the German ones but as you said in the commentary it was just to slow things down, the reality of any invasion would be the pill boxes being take out in no time at all.
